Used 10lb propane tank holder

Lite Cylinders have hard plastic handles. So even if you send a chain or lock thru them, a hacksaw could easily defeat something simple. I'm looking for some type of cable that I can go from my center eyelet up and over the top of the tank (to the side(s) of the valve) and then pull taunt to the outer eyelet. I may put some foam or soft rubber under the tank to reduce vibration.

I think if somebody is going to go at it with a hacksaw, then you will not be able to prevent them from taking your tank no matter what you do. My intent is to prevent theft from an unsophisticated person who sees a somewhat expensive item that is unsecured and that can be taken with minimal effort. I would hate to be camping off the grid and be forced to return to civilization prematurely because a critical part of my set-up has been taken. Realistically I think it is improbable that somebody would steal it to begin with, but as I get older, I am also getting to realize that there are more unscrupulous people around now than there used to be. I would rather spend a little money up front to secure my equipment as insurance against something like this happening than have my trip ruined by some @$$hole.

My $0.02

Cheers,
Greg

Greg, I concur. And I've never been taken to the cleaners. But as my trailer evolves, I like to consider all aspects of extended travel. I think the further off the grid you traveled, the more valuable a tank of propane becomes, yet the less likely I will bump into unsavory type people. Odds are that if something did get swiped it would be at the McDonald's or in my own yard. I just like the challenge probably. My biggest concern is when I resurface in public and need to park it while site seeing or resupplying. But this is probably getting of subject.

I decided to lock it with a cable lock ($10@Amazon). I'll run it thru the handle, around the neck of the bottle and back out the handle. Should be tight enough that the bottle cant be removed. Someone enterprising sure could upsell the Lite Cyl product with a better method of attaching and securing the tanks.
