So after watching all the great trailer builds on this site I decide to jump in......

Lots of issues to address biggest being a diet. Good thing is I plan on dumping the frame (know anyone who needs a Toyota back half????) which will cure a lot of ills and get a good start on losing the weight.

Plan of use: camping (fishing, kyaking) and trail rides (Mojave Road, El Camino del Diablo, Death Valley, Sierras etc)
Plan of design: low weight, low center of gravity, universal utility.
Initial ideas:
RTT
On board kitchen/fridge/sink
Hot water/water tank
Solar/battery power
Awning
Fuel tank with pump(so I don't have to mess with jerry cans)
Full compliment of LED lighting (kitchen, patio, trailer bed, ground)
........to start

Peace
M

we dont need no stinkin' issues.....

No that's not two shots of the same taillights.......both ends had taillights. For some reason they put the bed on the trailer backwards. And went to a lot of work to make it work. Maybe for weight distribution.

Booger welds.....

So the fun begins.

I looked at that pic of that unused driveshaft flange on that axle and a thought came to me. Could that be used as a PTO to drive a generator while being towed? Probably just a crazy idea........

Actually that isn't such a bad idea...

Weight Watchers....

Okay so far I have removed the frame, the front (but really rear) bulkhead, the ladder rack, and the bumper. All worth a whopping 678 pounds. I originally guestimated the trailer at 600-700 pounds. The frame alone was almost that......

bed off

Okay do now with the bed off its time to get a little more serious. Reviewing the list of "must haves" and "wants" I'm starting to visualize the trailer.

Passenger side rear to front
Box 1
Sink, and related cleaning stuff
Box 2
Stove, dishes, eating/cooking utensils, plates, cups. etc
Box 3
Cooler or fridge upper, pantry lower

Drivers side rear to front
Box 1
Electrics, batteries, and related
Box 2
Tools, spares, hardware
Box 3
Pantry upper and lower

Bed
Upper
Loose cargo (possibly thinking of a fiberglass roof top type cargo box to keep things dry/clean and easily removable for larger cargo-we'll see about the weight)
Lower
spare tire, water tank, fuel tank.
Both levels of the bed will bed expanded metal to save weight since the frame design will take over duty as the structural support for the bed sides. The frame will be under the bed sides and will create the first level and the space for the spare and tanks between the bed and frame (for visuals the frame will support the bed sides where the 2x4's are now but in an outrigger or pontoon fashion)

priorities......

Have been switched this week...........but I did get around to using the Jeep spare to look at the fitment.

First is an Imperial Red of my son's creation and the second is a Rye IPA also of my son's creation. We have a third, a Rye Stout, fermenting as well but I didn't get a pic of theat.....

That may not help with productivity, but it will keep morale up!!

I've often thought that utility boxes, either a full bed like yours or even truck bedside mounted boxes would be a perfect drop in solution to storage issues on a trailer. They're already lockable, weather tight, and usually available in various paintable colors and sizes.
