Whether it is capable or not, it is just to freakin big. The 100 is going to be the new 80 before to long.

I was told they were bigger than that. My bad. Still there has been a two times where I have had tturn around and go somewhere else in a 100. My taco is the widest vehicle I have ever owned.

Pretty decent. I am still not sure about the looks, but I think it is starting to grow on me. It looks like a pretty capable rig. I would like to see one outfitted for expedition travel with all the goodies.

I dunno, I've never owned any of them and have never been in a 100 series ever. I was just presenting the numbers. They all seem sort of bloated to me anyway since I drive a little truck, too.

Plush setup for that kind of capability. I would not, however, like the idea of the truck driving itself over an obstacle - cars are just getting too smart.

I always laugh when people who have 80's tell me how big 100's are. For that matter, my 100 goes almost everywhere my Tacoma did. It helps that I don't care about pinstripping:) There is only 1 local trail I avoid due to how narrow it is. The Tacoma barely fit, and not without rubbing the sliders.

The cool thing about the new crawl mode is the potential for controlled hill descents. From the videos I've seen, it works great on extremely loose downhill slopes. Due to the lack of compression braking in the 100 series, I sometimes miss the manual transmission in the Tacoma, whereas the crawl mode would be a nice option for those downhills.

I like these options like this because they are selectable. I suspect the next generation FJ, Tacoma, and 4runner will all employ this technology.

I have lots of pin stripping on my taco. 90% of the time the 100 isn't to big and every where I have gone it was to wide for ended up being a 10 min hike anyways and not really worth it the time. Maybe I am just spoiled. One nice thing the 100 does have and maybe the 130 is turning radius. It sucks in the taco.

I actually saw 2 new 130's on the road on my way into work this morning. I am still unsure of the styling. In person they look like an oversized Highlander.

Meh. Not impressed.

Calamari, you can't lock your tranny in 1st?

Yea but that is not as nice as a manual with low gearing going down steep inclines.

I think Toyota is calling them the 200 series.

I am surprised that the size appears to be very comparable to the 100. I thought they were much bigger from the photos.

However, what they definately are is MUCH heavier, yet less capacity. Well, at least compared to the 80. I guess the 200 has the 100 beat in terms of weight and capacity.

80 series:

Curb weight: 4760
Gross weight: 6470
Rated capacity: 1719

100 series:

Curb weight: 5425
Gross weight: 6925
Rated capacity: 1470

200 series:

Curb weight: 5690
Gross weight: 7275
Rated capacity: 1585
