Before you purchase anything, at very minimum, purchase something like this. Getting UNstuck. It doesn't match in-person instruction and experience, but it will at least get you started on how to use what you may buy.

I have that video, Priceless knowledge in it! Worth the buy.

good straps, multiple shackles, and another truck go a long way. always keep safety in mind.

also for your winch, when you REALLY need one, a portable winch is probably not the best thing to have. odds are, your front or rear end may very well be impossible to switch the winch, not to mention they usally kill your approach/departure angle. how would you store it when not in use?

i'd recomment a solid mount winch via a winch bumper or at least a winch tray that can work with your stock bumper.
