Wanted: Shop or private to install second battery

Hey folks

I recently started my USA trip with a 2nd gen Tacoma I just bought. I would like having a second battery to run the fridge and having a couple 12V outlets inside the camper shell. I can‘t do the install by myself nor can I order any parts.

Can anyone recommend me a shop in Southern or Central California that could do such an install? Ideally without waiting two weeks for an appointment. Or anyone private that could order parts and install it? I‘m happy to pay you in beer and food or cash for doing the install.

Thanks in advance, Neil

If you are near Fresno, I have a pro there that has done some work for me in So Cal before he got smart and escaped north. If interested I can PM his contact info.

What keeps you from doing it yourself? Lack of tools? Lack of skill / knowledge? Lack of a delivery address? I am in Fresno, but it is hot as hell right now, like 105+, and I'm not sure I'm excited to work on someone else's project, but I might be able to assist and provide tools or knowledge.

Look up Adventure Wired, he's in the San Diego area. You could also get a new battery cage from Pelfrey and run a much larger (group 31) single battery for your needs. For most a second battery is over kill.

Thank you all for the fast respond!

Lack of tools, parts, option to order parts, a place to work on and knowledge. I know only little about electric stuff and don‘t feel confident to do it by myself. Would be happy to assist and learn something though.

Thanks for the hint, that would be perfect and I wrote them a request.

Shoot me a PM if you end up this way and want to connect. probably best to figure out what exactly you want, order all the stuff, then go to Yosemite or something for a few days, come back to the house and install after it all arrives. As long as you aren't trying to get wiring into the cab it can be pretty simple. If you are looking to run wire through the cab, life changes a bit... You start having to pull and replace interior trim and run the risk of breaking clips and whatnot, in addition to finding a good way to penetrate the firewall.

I did and didn‘t get a respond so far. Neither did I from Adventure Wired..

As already stated I‘m in the Southern and Central California area. Currently near SD but I‘m on the move the most time. Will be leaving to Colorado in a week or two though.
Call them during business hours

How many offroad shops are there in San Diego and southern Riverside counties? Call places like 4WP and ORW. Any competent independent shop should be able to handle the installation. This is not complicated. Am I missing something?

I happened to pick up a battery tray from Pelfreybilt since they were super close and had it in stock. A huge group31 battery has been mounted and the fridge is now hardwired to the battery.
As @WOODY2 allready stated, a second battery would probably be overkill for my needs. I just have a small fridge and I‘m on the move almost every day.

Thanks to everyone for the respond and all the offers to help me out wiring things up!

Excellent choice add a jump box for final piece of mind.

Just make sure you install a fuse or circuit breaker very close to the battery, cheap insurance. Also correctly size the wire to the fridge.
