Warn M8000 on a 05+ taco?

The 1.5X vehicle weight rule of thumb is kind of a catch-all. A lot depends on how your vehicle is loaded and the terrain you will be recovering your vehicle in. Your average rolling recovery, like on rock or other hard surfaces, is very different from a buried-to-the-framerails-in-mud recovery. A lot of factors come into play.

I will say that the Warn ratings are pretty conservative, when compared to some of the other winches out there.

hey, since your talking about the m8000. last week i finally got around to wiring up mine (been on the truck for over a year). well i wanted to test it; so i pulled out the entire length and started winching the truck. when i was half way there the winch started squealing. not very loud, but still made a sound i wasn't ready for. i don't think i was beyond the duty cycle ( 10 sec. on, 10 off). is this normal or should i take it apart and clean it?

*EDIT* - the Jeep had a winch... but the power cables weren't hooked up!

ALWAYS make sure your stuff is wired and squared away BEFORE you head out!

Classic . I'm sure it wasn't easy for him to reveal that little detail.

my m8000 is great, but it's definitely not waterproof. it's not even a year old and i never dunked it too bad, but i've already had to take it apart and clean/regrease the drums. it would not shift into neutral.

i got mine for $550 and i'm glad i didn't pay any more than that.
