Water storage for camping, Reliance Aqua-Tainer

If the plastic faucet breaks off (which is common), a regular outside faucet threads into them perfectly. Then you can add a hose, make a shower.

I used to use the soft version of Reliance's carriers and wasn't too impressed. Only reason I didn't buy the hard plastic version is because I couldn't see an easy way to strap them down. Instead I bought the more expensive (I bought it at $40 before it went to $60) but easily carried Front Runner 20L Jerry Can for water. This way I can easily carry it in my Jerry can holder without issues.:smiley_drive:

I've had two of the 7 gallon suckers for about 4 years now. Just the last trip did one of the spigots break at the thread. As mentioned already, just replaced it with a good brass one at Home Despot. They are heavy when full, but for just me, 14 gallons on a weekend or 3 day trip is plenty. I've got two 5 gallon scepter jugs as well for longer trips. I like the spigot. I've also upgraded to plain 3/4" threaded plugs and will keep the brass spigot in with all my cooking gear.

I purchased this as well, it lasted 2 trips. Plastic in the corners is thin and was punctured, and the spout stripped after being removed and covered only a few times. You get what you pay for I guess.. it was like 12 bux

Mine has held up for a year so far, my had his about a year and a half and it has leaked at the corners. Get what you pay for.

I like the cork idea, thanks.

I really like the Jumbo-Tainer. Being a girl, the two handles make it easier for me to carry and pour, plus make great strap points. Just like with the other one, a piece of tape on the reversed spigot keeps out the dirt, a screw on vent cap would be nice, larger fill opening to drop in a pump like the Zodi would be cool.

An interesting tid bit on this unit from last week's wheeling adventures: one fella had two of these, few years old and they both kept venting water out and soaked his carpet. The first night's sleep was humid, the second's night sleep was down right clammy and cold. He figured it out and drained the water well below the vent and they STILL weeped water out. Very strange!

Second guy I was with had the same exact container, only fairly new and not one drop of water. Completely filled to the brim no less!

Go figure!

I've got the 4 gallon version that I use specifically in my camping van. It rides in the sink and doesn't leak. The benefit is that I don't have to mess with the onboard water tank for a spontaneous trip but can still use the drain tank to hold the water from the AquaTainer. When on the road like I was with my two boys earlier this summer, I just refilled with gallon jugs from the market. If they don't link, they're great!
