We Won the Lottery! In February...

We headed out of the Vermillion Cliffs and started to make our way north. Our path would lead us through the Grand Staircase Escalante Monument. We found a place to call it a night and get some rest. The sunset was perfect!

The following day we hiked and explored some more rocks. Yeah, it is amazing to think that the lure of the area is rocks. So, rocks it is...A great hike!

Afterwards, we made our way deeper into the Grand Staircase Monument. I always wonder if President Clinton actually saw this place before he protected it.

As the road twisted and turned through gorgeous country...We arrived at an area we nicknamed Candyland!

Saw an arch along the way...

A few ruins too...GStaircase is an amazing piece of public land! I hope you get a chance to explore it some day!

The next day we called it good. Nine glorious days...Our timing was perfect. Our winter break really did feel like Spring Break. We were lucky and grateful we saw and explored some gorgeous country. Time to fill up the tires and rally home. Until next time!

Awesome trip report. We ran across this thread on some initial researching of the area, and we'd love to be able to obtain a permit...

Thanks for sharing!

You probably already know this, but that is Grosvenor Arch.

Was this trip really fom a year ago? Your opening post says 2014, but you are usually very caught up on you trip reports, and this February has been very April like. Just wondering :)

Always love your trip reports makes we want to get out more. The Wave is high on my bucket list of places to hike.

Thanks my friend! I need all the help I can I get...Changed to 2015:)

Appreciate the kind words. Yeah, the Wave exceeded my expectations. Too bad it's all about luck!

awesome thread.
I got lucky a couple of years back.
The wave is an amazing geological feature...
It took three times for us to hit it big.
I did not read the whole thread, but Cobra arch is also a must see in this area...

Cheers,

Frank.
