Weekend trip Cape Cod National Seashore

Turns out my 215/65/16 Geolandar AT-S' are permissible at CCNS. I just had to sign a waiver that absolved them of any liability should I get stuck with one size under their recommended minimum size.

That signed, an inspection to insure I had the requisite safety equipment, a short video presentation later and voila!

Here are a couple of other shots from the outing. No real issues, though it is very soft sand. Aired down to 10 psi and never came close to being stuck. And, the kids had a blast as usual!

Prior to arriving at CCNS we stopped for a hike and drive at Profile Rock. So named, because the Wampanoag Indians believed the rock formation displayed the profile of their great Chief Massasoit.

Not having been around during the 1600's and my time machine being down for repairs, I'll have to take their word for it!

While we were there, it didn't seem right that the Subie get left out of hill climbing so we gave her a little workout.

And since we had neither a buddy along nor my trusty Pull-Pal, we decided to leave this section for another day!

A stick check showed the standing water to be over a foot deep and the mud at the bottom very soft.

Looks like a nice trip. Glad they let you pass with "small" tires. No winch/pullpal? Sometimes it's difficult to stop and turn around, but when you're alone it's for the best. Glad everyone had fun! Love the subie!

CCNS is really beautiful. We went there on our honeymoon and had the whole beach to ourselves.

No winch/pullpal?

I had my hilift with me and plenting of winch extension rope and miscellaneous straps if I had really wanted to tackle the mud, but discretion being the better part of valor, I decided to leave it for another day so we would make it to the beach while the sun was shining! :)

That said, I really need to find a decent way to cover the Pull-Pal and secure it to the rack easily. If I could find something similar to the JackGauard case I have for the hilift I'd be psyched!

Wow, very beautiful area. Love the Subaru. I have shown your build thread to a number of 'Urabus' owners...

I love the cape, I have not been out on the beach since 03, was thinking of getting a permit for the Scout this year. On a side not where you in the Southboro Ma area on rt 9 about a week ago. Saw a cool Subi that looks like yours.

I spend a lot of time between offices in Westborough and Framingham so it was probably me you saw. It's the only Subie with a snorkel and safari rack in these parts!

Btw, GrahamFitter and I are trying to get some local ExPos together for a meet and greet after work one night. PM if interested.

Cheers!

Dammit man! You are really getting us anxious to get back. Jenn has never been to the Cape.

It sure would be nice to plan a trip out there sometime.

Superu: Nice trip! The Cape definitely is nice but I've not been there in ages -- and never driven on the beach at all -- what recovery gear do they require?

Ujoint: The Mass. border isn't patrolled so as long as you don't tell anybody there's lobstahs in the van you'll be fine.

Cheers,
Graham

p.s. Bill, I've PM'd you.

p.p.s. I wonder, does anybody want to do lunch at one of the Indian restaurants on Rt. 9 in Framingham this week?

Nice trip but it would have ben better if a red Tacoma was with you! I need to head out there, looks like a fun place to string up my 7wt for some fishies. Next time ya go shoot me a PM.

Oh and about the Indian thing this week, I am all for a GTG but Indian food and me aren't pals at all. Gives me the trots something fierce.

Ok, several people have expressed interest in discussing the CCNS and getting together so how about the Piccadilly Pub at Rt. 9 and 495 on Friday after work for a short GTG? I can bug out early from work if necessary.

Forecast looks good. :)

I good for that but I might be a little late. I just mapquested it and it looks like I will be in the seat for two hours or so without traffic. Are we dead set on meeting in MA? If so then no prob.

I live in RI just outside Providence, so I'm open to outside MA as well! :D

Would Wistaah, I mean Worcester work better for everyone?
