Well, kinda going a differnt route this time.

Nice. I thought about building a sled for one of my floor jacks, but space is at a premium with all our gear and the camper. Its definitely the way to go if you have the room. My Hi-Lift might work on the front (I'm guessing the recovery hooks could take the upward force), but after reflection, it wouldn't work out back because the camper is too long (the hitch is under and forward of the rear of the camper by feet), so a bottle jack is my only solution I think.

Completely unrelated: What I don't understand is why one of you genius aluminum fabbers don't come up with an aux diesel tank that is approx 3" thick, is weight bearing, and fits the foot print of the various new style pickup beds. Since I have to use spacers in my pickup bed (approx 3" high) to accommodate a camper because of these new high side bed trucks, it would kill two birds with one stone (work as a spacer and provide approx 70 gallons of diesel). You can use my idea and get rich so long as I get a tank out of the deal.

I built a mount for the jack that hung it under the Sub off the frame rail. I'm thinking that there is some wasted space under the bed somewhere that could be used for this.

Hey, it doubles as a skid plate! Now that's some thinking. Yes, lots of room underneath. Was planning on filling some it with an air compressor as some point, but still plenty of room. Now you've got me thinking....

Well, its not in its final configuration yet, but it will get there. Added 2" spacers out back from Fred. Should help keep rocks from lodging in there when in Baja (probably will get a few here and there, but this will help). Also, rear tires were just ever so slightly kissing at 80# because of the load. Now have room to air down when needed. Heading out tomorrow for its maiden voyage. Will get a 64 gal tank installed in San Bernardino. Then off to Baja. Welded some alumn brackets on the bumper to hold the collapsed ladder in place so I don't have to remove it when traveling. Learned a lot about no ground plane CB antenna installs this past week too. I'm 120# over gross (without water in the tank). Thinking the upgraded suspension should negate that. Hope it all holds together.
