What Did You Do With Your Lightning Today?

This guy fed his livestock. Nice use of the empty storage space up front, created by having no gas motor!

“Grab the truck keys Mabel, and alpaca a bale of hay in the frunk so we can go feed the critters…”

“Do More Stuff”…the new FoMoCo EV Truck Slogan.

Survey Said...
Based on the survey data, along with follow-up interviews, it was determined that current F-150 Lightning owners use their truck's bed more frequently than traditional internal-combustion pickup owners.

The survey showed that 74-percent of Lightning owners claim to use their trucks once a month for home projects such as hauling lumber, gardening supplies, appliances, and more. This is compared to 51 percent of traditional pickup owners.

The survey continues and points out that 27-percent of Lightning buyers use their trucks for this task more than once a month, compared to just 14 percent of standard F-150 buyers. Finally, 48-percent of Lightning owners claim to use the truck for monthly camping excursions, as compared to 40-percent of F-150 owners.

Parked it as far away from a populated area as possible..Left a couple of fire extinguishers close and ran.

Overblown issue.

You could say the same for the 570,000 Kias and Hyundais that just got recalled for fire risk and the 40,000 GM trucks that just got recalled, all in the last week or so.

Or 400,000 Nissans a few years ago.

And this is all from a 30 second search.

There are plenty of EV pros and cons to discuss that are legitimate, especially for overlanding, but the fire issue is overblown.

Unless it's your house that burns down, then it's an issue.

Obviously. But that hasn’t actually happened and the point is similar recalls happen for tons of other vehicles, including over 600,000 Kias, Hyundais, and Chevy trucks just in the last week or so, so it’s not at all unique to Lightnings but gets brought up as if it is.

BIL has a new lightning and won’t park it in his garage for this reason.

That decision is certainly up to him, but if he's parking gas vehicles in his garage, keeping gas cans in his garage (which is actually prohibited by some insurance companies), etc., then my point is that it's probably not a totally rational/factual decision.
