What winch will fit in a XJ ARB bumper?

I just mounted my ARB bumper on my XJ and love it. I need to put a winch in it but don't want one of the high priced warn m 6,8,or 90000's. I know that is what ARB recommends but does anyone know the max dimensions? I wanted to get this, http://www.gorecon.com/product.php?pk=294&pname=Part+%23+264100PPW+++++++++++++++++-+10%2C500LB+Pro+Performance+Series+Winch&p_cat=77, its is only an inch taller than the Warn's but I am worried it wont fit. I just searched the web for 1.5hours and couldn't find the info I needed. Thanks, AZTACO

smittybilt xrc8 -will fit, great winch. http://www.4wheelparts.com/XRC8-Winch.aspx?t_pl=6208&t_pn=S/B97281

harbor frieght -chicago electric 8 or 9k should fit. http://www.harborfreight.com/8000-lb-electric-winch-with-automatic-brake-67576.html

Basically anything with a NON-INTEGRATED solonoid. See the pics in the links. That little black box can be mounted anywhere...

All winches, other than ATV winches, have a foot pattern of 4" x 10", so anything that you see on 4wheel parts or even harbor freight will have that foot spacing pattern.

The picture you posted is of an integrated model where the solonoid is a part of the case. Thats a no-go with an arb. (But would be fine with my Logan's metal setup, or a JCR bumper, for example)

I just finished mounting my Smittybuilt XRC8 winch (which I happened to get from BigDaddy :D ) and it mounted without any issues. I'll get some pics up a the next couple days but I think in all my work, I didn't take any of the winch from the backside. Just the finished product. LOL

If the Harbor Freight winch will fit, then so will the MileMarker it is a clone of. E9000 I think is what it's designation is.

Is there any reason why ARB does not offer a rear bumper for an XJ? Their swing out tire carrier that holds two tires is pretty dang cool and it would probably sell almost as well as the XJ Bull Bar especially amongst drivers like us.

It's hard to find the large manufacturers building new stuff for a minimum 9 year old rig. AEV had one of the coolest rear bumper/swing outs out there but they just had done the prototype when Jeep killed the XJ for the Liberty. They dropped doing parts for the XJ and started with the Lib and then big time on the new Wrangler. Add to that, ARB stuff is not cheap and would even limit their market even more. I'm just glad that they are still making XJ bumpers.

I think Kaymar made a cool duel swing out but they were really hard to get in the US and $$$.

Cuz they're dumb. haha. just kidding. I really dig that bumper, too.

Logan's metal, the company that makes my front snowplow of a bumper..(haha, or "underbite" as XJmike likes to call it :D) makes a fairly low-profile rear swing away for 84-2001 cherokee's:

-Rear bumper $300.00
-rear swingaway $600.00
-Rear DUAL swingaway $900ish(not listed on their website, but very much part of what they can and will readily make.)

Call and talk to Jamie, if you have pregunta's. She's a super cool chick.

I REALLY like the idea of a jerry can/water can mount and a spare tire mount, as well as d-shackle recovery points, and a hitch for bikes, or light towing...

cool.

yeah, pretty sure those two are exactly the same winch, just rebadged. I think someone has posted pics of the inside of a Chicago electric winch, and it was stamped "milemarker". pretty funny. :ylsmoke:

The new smittybilt is a different winch altogether, but may also share parts with another already existing winch..not sure on that one.

Smittybilt shares components with t-max. I have a BNIB xrc8 and will help install I for free if you are on the east coast.
