Guys, I'm torn in devotion. To which LC of mine should I add some fun things this winter? I really love my FZJ80, but the Troopy is such a fun vehicle. I have not the infinite funds to focus on both.

Should I sell my beloved FZJ80 in LC overload? Gasp!

I'm really lucky to have two LCs, don't get me wrong. How do/would you choose between what gets what?

Fun factor and expected life of vehicle would be my focus points.
If the Troopy meets your needs and you expect to own it longer then put the money where the fun is.
If the Troopy will go away in the future when the kids are bigger or if you think the engine/trans or whatever might go (which I doubt) then play with it as is and put the money into the 80.

Personally I would keep both as long as possible but spend money on the Troopy.

its the same problem i have between the 55 and taco. i have come to this conclusion and i think you'll find similar. the 55, being old and drafty is my play rig while the taco is the family rig, my mods and usage resemble those different needs. well rounded and comfy for the taco, trail rig for the 55.

Mod the one you love driving more...

This is a fun hobby, so skip the practical decision, and spend the time and money on the one that floats your boat ;)

I've always dreamed of having a stock-ish 40 of some sort as a DD. I love the way the troopy looks now, I say keep the mods on that light and bling out the 80. 80's don't look good stock, anyway.

Count yourself lucky to only have to choose between two.

argh.........

Sounds like the 80 could use a little love if you have an overall favorite. I try to get them all so that each has a mission range where it is the logical choice, and those ranges only overlap by a small margin.

Oh, if I could only determine which! Winter = Troopy, Summer = AC'd LC80 :)

Trust me, AC is by all means planned for the Troopy, but I can't find a shop to take custom jobs until winter, go figure.

BJ70 just supplied your answer!:victory: The solution was staring you in the face and didn't even know it!

I'm kinda trying to think about what the 80 needs? Really...it'll go just about anywhere you point it, and has 90% of the bells and whistles you'd need.

So, I gotta say the Troopy, mi amigo.

I love modded 80s a lot! I hope to own one soon... But park a 45 troopy in most any state of repair, let alone a tastefully modded one beside an 80 and I can tell you where I will be staring, drooling etc etc. I think that with the right planning and choice of drive-train, suspension etc a 45 can be as practical as an 80. Not maybe as 'comfortable', but certainly a much more worthwhile investment due to rarity alone. Best of luck whatever route you take. ANd yes, we always want to see photos of 'our' choices!:sombrero:
