Whipsaw Trail BC, July 2011

This past weekend I drove nearly 1000kms to attend the CT4WD Whipsaw Trail Run. It was an awesome adventure and the trail sure lives up to all of the hype. It proved to be more difficult than normal due to the extremely late snow melt this year. In the first 2 days of travel, we covered about 20kms of trail, driving 12+ hours a day.... There was lots of trail clearing and shoveling to get all of the rigs through. It paid off, as I believe we are the first group of 4x4's to have pushed through this year. I will let the photos do the rest of the talking!

On the way to the trail via. the Kootenay Lake Ferry. Destination: Nelson BC.

I wonder what the weight rating is on these D-Rings?

Near the Whipsaw Trailhead: My T4R was the "smallest" in the whole group!! and the only one without a BIG front bumper!!

Beautiful pics! Thanks for sharing!
We were up there 2 weeks ago and it's amazing how much farther you guys made it. We only made it 28km from the trailhead. And camped at the first cabin.

Thanks guys for the kind words! It really is a must-do trail. It's beautiful up there!

Nice.

Is the Quad-bridge we built over the mud-hole last summer still there?

Yah, I was looking at your photos before I left, and was thinking that we were going to be in for one crazy adventure! We wouldn't have punched through if it wasn't for the insane work ethic in our group. We became good friends with our shovels and axe's (not a single person brought a chainsaw!).

Great photos! Looks like a blast!

Did you take on that crossing with your 4Runner!?!?!?

I wanted to try it but my alternator quite on me after being on the trail for like 5 hours so I didnt want to risk it considering I was having starting/electrical issues. Next time!

Looks like fun, I tried the Grey Creek pass on July 6th and we made it about 90% of the way through until we hit snow and had to turn back. We were on our own and I just have a stock Pro4X with stock rugged trails for tires so I wasn't going to try it unless there was more than just our truck and I had better tires.
Anyway nice pics!!
