Who went from 33's to 35's? MPG hit?

I'm running a stock 2014 JKUS and seeing about the same as you... the best I've seen is 19.5ish if I spent a fair amount of time driving 70 on the highway. I've got the same mileage, same gears and 285/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers... I'm confused by the 20+ numbers too. Let us know if your trip to the dealer reveals anything.

I am also confused by the 20+ numbers. I average about 19 on the highway with stock tires on my JKUR with some armor, winch, and bumper.
We have to travel several hours to any trail or park around here and when I fallow a jeep with 35s I always ask and they say they got 15 when I got 19.

Jealous

Im jealous of the 20+ numbers.

I have a 2014 JKUR, Auto, 3.6, I think 4.10 gears stock? With the stock BFG MUDs inflated to the recommended pressure 37-38 psi.

I have a Gobi Rack and 2 Tepui Tents. 13700 miles overall. My freeway commute is 10 miles with 4 miles of 65 with stop lights for about 30 miles daily total. According to the trip computer I'm getting 15.5 pretty constantly. Wheelin I get about 11.5, and long freeway runs I might get 16.

I typically cruise between 60 and 65 and draft Semis when I find one fast enough. A/C is on at least 75% of the time.

I lost about 1mpg adding the rack and tents. the tents went on the day after the rack, so I have no separate comparison.

I have noticed that my rig often feels like it is pushing or dragging something, and have wondered if there could be a brake or front end issue. It usually only feels that way at high speeds, so generally I figure that Fiat just managed to build a raging underpowered turd. at speeds up to and including about 55, it does great and feels / sounds appropriately powered... I just can't hack Cali freeways.

I often see JKU blow by me on the freeway and wonder... Do they not care about mileage? Are they geared significantly differently? Are they simply willing to run 3500 RPM? I feel like I'm pushing too hard much over 2250.

Mysteries of Life I guess...

Its people who don't care. I never run my jeep fast. That's not what it's for. Since I picked up my flashcal, I went from 18l/100kms to 14.5l/100km around town. I think adjusting the transmission points and recalibrating the speedo to the correct tire size made a difference.

it is your tent. that will drop you mileage significantly.. when I tow at 55 in a 4 door 4ubicom with a 3.8 i get better mileage like 16 than when i drive at 65-70 without trailer which is 3500lbs

No, I gained 4 liters of fuel per 100 kms. a pretty big bump. Here our milage is rated by how many liters of gas you burn per 100 kms of driving. which is 60 miles.

Was interested to see what everyone was getting MPG wise with 35's and like most I am blown away with the responses. I can barely squeak out 19 MPG on my stock 2014 with an auto trans and factory sized wheels and tires driving mostly on the highway at 65-70 MPH.

I went from stock Sahara tires with 3.73 gears getting about 19.5 mpg to 35" BFG KM2s with 3.73 gears and got about 15 mpg... then I bought an AEV Procal and it jumped up to 18 to 18.5 roughly. It changes from time to time but I believe a good rolling average is around 18. I keep track of all my fill ups and have a spread sheet. I know the Jeep isnt made for great gas mileage but I like to keep a good idea of what Im getting.

Also with a 50" light bar mounted above the windshield dropped my gas mileage significantly too! Thats when I went to my buddy and we designed the lower 50" mounts and I got my gas mileage back!

after regearing to 4.56 my hit from 33-35-37 was 2mpg. my rubicon did better on 35s than 33s and on 37s was a little under geared so i bumped it up
