Why steel wheels?

Hey guys,

I am in need of new tires after this coming winter and got to thinking about either 255/85/16's or 33x10.5/15's w/ steelies.

How much heavier are the steels wheels? and what is the advantage of them?
I would assume it is strength?

Weighwise - allot.
I had 33 BFG AT on steeles and I couldn't lift it up alone on the tiregate. I can easily lift my curent 35 MT ao alloy rims. My personal experience proves that steel rims are much heavier.

Agreed with above stated that many alloy rims are very ridgit as well. The only benefit is that steel rim will be easier to repair.
