That is all that I've ever used in the past, but I think any future set-up might just use a 3 terminal Weatherpack.

I know there are better options, but the main advantage, in my view, for the round 4-pole trailer connector is that you can get them just about anywhere if yours fails. Also the M/F ends are intergangeable across brands.

I guess. But I cut such a nice hole in my bumper to mount that connector.
