Overland Journal and Expeditions West is looking for a fun, clean shop truck.

Looking for clean, mostly stock (all stock preferred) 1985 Toyota SR5 4wd with 22RE motor. Long bed preferred. White preferred. A/C preferred.

Price offered will be based on condition.

It's last year of the solid front axle! Mine was a shortbed x-tra cab. Uber reliable, and made many trips to Mexico and all over CA.

I'm thinking the long bed part is going to be tough.

Got an 86 Turbo extra cab that I have been thinking about selling. All stock except the front bumper.

An 85 truck with the EFI... rather rare since most came with a carb, did they not?

Best of luck with the search. Didn't you have a truck like that "back in the day"?

My 85 was a SR5 that had EFI. I think they are actually pretty common. It's the 22RE engine model.

Better trying to find an 1985 longbed with EFI.
SR5 models included bucket seats, tach, upgraded interior (almost all of which you can swap out of a parts truck). The tach clusters are plug n play.
I have a 1985 SR5 longbed base model all stock (not for sale), but you can practically make an SR5 out of a deluxe model longbed with minimal efforts. My 1985 SR5 extra cab (project vehicle) is a base SR5 with the only option added being a sunroof which I hate. :sombrero:

Good luck. I will see what I can find.

Thanks for the help everyone. This will make the perfect shop truck, just need to find the long bed. 5 speed, 4wd and ac are pretty important to us...

Edit: I am also spreading the search slightly to include the 1989-1995 long beds too.

89-95 long bed numbers were pretty low and afik are pretty rare.

i used to have the exact truck you are looking for except i had swapped in a 2RZ-FE and now i have a 92 with the short box (come to think of it i've had at least 3 other long beds) and i have to say, i'm not sure that extra foot of cargo space is all that significant. i know this is all very subjective but are you absolutely sure you need the long bed? just a thought.

One of the main functions we use a truck for is transporting motorcycles. The long be allows closing of the tailgate :D
