Yaesu FTM-300DR powering down

I'm almost ready to dispose of my FTM-300DR. It shuts down randomly, and I can't figure out why.

APO (automatic power off) is off.

It's mounted in my Defender, vertically on the back of the center console and it worked well in that installation for a year before it started this problem. I have only noticed the issue when driving. It doesn't seem to matter if it is a smooth or rough road. I can leave it on overnight, but after driving for anywhere from a few minutes to an hour, it shuts off. I don't think it is a power issue. The radio displays 13 to 14 volts when the screen suddenly goes blank. Also, I can swap in my Kenwood 2m radio, and that one will stay on for several days and trips with no issues.

I have tried 3 different cables between the radio and head, with the same results.

Could it be a firmware issue? Or maybe a loose component inside?

Have you brought the firmware up to date?

I had a problem with a similar issue.

I eventually had to replace the head unit due to some bad screen pixels, by sending the head unit to Yaesu in Cypress, CA.
