Has anyone used salt water in this shower or any other 12v shower?

I know of at least one of my customers that has used salt water in his Helton vehicle-mount unit. All things considered salt water is not the best thing for copper, but for the limited amount of use, and the easy of a quick rinse he uses it anyway. I honesly havn't heard back from him in a while, but as of last he has used it a couple times with no problems...

it was a warm night - we were camped at Bahia de Los Angeles and we were low on filtered drinking water but fully loaded with Mexican beer and tequilla... :sombrero:

Everything worked fine after we cleaned it out with fresh water :wings:

So it clogged on you? That is the point of my question a nice shower is 3-4 gallons, and that is a lot of fresh water if you're hauling it. It'd be nice to use salt water, then just do a quick rinse of the pump and shower head with fresh.

I would recommend using a solar bag shower for when you want to use the saltwater. I had the same issue as DD running salt through my little 12V pump unit.

3 or 4 gallons?? dayum Chuck! :p

I tried 2 gallons on a trip a few weeks back and it didn't last near long enough. Of course, the flow rate was on high and I am a big dood.

3-4 gallons is a nice shower.. but you can get by on far less if you pace it. My wife and I took 2 showers each on 5 gallons + what we had in the cooler (melted ice). We soak for a minute, apply soap with the water off, and then rinse for a minute. Thats the nice thing about having a low volume pump... you can waste alot of water in a hurry.

On a side note... I'll be picking up a couple Scepter water tanks that will ideally be used just for shower water. I have a cheapy Blitz I took with me last time... the inlet is slightly smaller than my pump. With the scepter tanks I won't even have to dismount them, just drop the pickup unit into the tank and shower away.

Our solution to the small tank opening...

Dump our freshwater into the cooler... between that and the melted icewater we had plenty of shower water :sunflower

i have the shower thing down to 3/4 gal - you may want to rethink your showertime

the showerhead clogged this was my first clue that salt water was a no go

Hmmm... I'll have to dig up ol' Teddy (the guy who was planning to use his with seawater) and see what his results were. Good to know, I'll let customers know that in the future... plus who wants to take a seabash anyhow ;)

Zodi Shower system

Anybody here have a Zodi shower system set-up in a M101 Trailer? I've got the water tank and low pressure pump and trying to figure out a good set up for the shower system inside the trailer. Need some design ideas.

Thanks
SS

The Zodi single burner has been working well the last few seasons. I drop the pump in a Sceptor can and let it circulate till i reach the temp i want. The batteries last a remarkably long time as well, would have thought i'd need to replace them more.

But this cheesy shower head has got to go. Kurt, is that a Helton shower head on your setup? Do you sell them seperately?

Any other suggestions for a showerhead?
