Jeep bumper. An inexpensive Smittybilt knockoff I found on Craigslist. I modified it to mount a winch on top because when reinforcing my frame ends, I made a mistake and reduced the clearance enough that I no longer have enough room to mount a winch between the frame rails. if I had it all to do over again, the modification would have taken the winch size into consideration and the winch would be mounted between the frame rails & nicely tucked away.

Are the jeep bumpers hard to match up?

You never know unless you try. I mounted a 2nd gen 4runner bumper on my 1985 Mitsubishi Pickup and it fits perfect. it looks better on the Mitsubishi than it does on the 4runner. Just a few modifications were made to the mounting brackets.

Not if you can weld and can cut steel to mate them up.

Thanks guys, it's something to keep in mind for the future, I'll have to keep an eye out for some cheap bumpers. Though I found a guy who will custom fab them down here in Orange County for around $250 which aint bad either....so we'll see what happens.

Just found out that my suspension is back ordered here in the states, so they had to order it direct from AUS, and I won't have my lift until after the first week of January :(

Call Jacque at TRDParts4U. He'll get it in their next shipment.... likely much sooner than Rocky Road would.

I had mine within a week or so when I ordered...

That's some good advice, I had seen your storage system through your link, and wanted to ask what you used underneath as the support system for it, I love the fact that it doubles as a bed, that's awesome.
Sorry, not sure if I answered your question earlier...
I used 1/2" plywood covered in cheapo indoor/outdoor brown carpet.

SUPPORT
On the rear most lip, I attached a piece of 1x2 hardwood on edge to the bottom for support along with turnbuckles (front & rear) to attach it to the bed.

I used sections of 3" dia. schedule 80 pvc pipe (THICK WALLS) on each corner to support it from below. The whole platform is attached to the bed via turnbuckles attached to the 4 Mitsu tie downs in back. On one side of the turnbuckle I used the regular hooked end to catch the bed tie downs and on the other side lea a long carriage bolt run through the platform. IIRC they were 5/16" dia turnbuckle bolts

On the sides I 'ripped' two 2x4's at an angle so I could mounted them to the 3rd row seat mounts on each side. I then screwed the platform to the 2x4's using 2.5-3" long countersunk Phillips head wood screws. I had to play with the angle on the 2x4's a bit since I simply eyeballed it.

That's probably not clear, so just let me know and I'll happily post up pics.

Thanks for that, I wish I would have known about this forum before I ordered the lift, as I would have asked you guys for advice, but I literally found this place the day after I ordered it, and I won't cancel it now, I can wait a couple more weeks, it's just a bit of a bummer, but thanks anyways :)

No worries, I appreciate that you answered my question :). I'm actually hoping to tackle this project in the next couple of weeks while I'm off from my nursing classes, and any pics you could post showing what you did would be a huge help if you wouldn't mind. It looks like a great system, and I hope I can have mine looking as nice as yours :) I appreciate any advice you're willing to lend

If you're around you can see it on the 1st. I'll be running the Cleghorn train in the Santa Ana Mountains northeast of LA.

I'd love to meet up with you guys (and see your platform in person) but unfortunately, my wife has to work on the 1st, and was given the 31st off instead, so we're going to be hitting either Cleghorn, or a river wash up near Azusa on the 31st, which will still be fun (I'll be going up with a buddy that has a new Rubicon Jeep), but I won't get to meet any of you guys :(

So any pics and advice you can share would be amazing.
