Who would have thought it would have taken $40,000 Wranglers to break the record....

Who would have thought that with the family options that offer twice the gas mileage, that the Wrangler would be selling so well?
It is a testament that folks want something that offers adventure possibilities and the freedom top has to be helping with sales.

Congratulations, Jeep! The Wrangler and Grand Cherokee are selling very well. Looks like Chrysler is back from the dead.

Rising CAFE standards will assure that Jeep continues to make mall crawlers, like the 2014 replacement for the Compass/Patriot, and the 2015 Jeepster, based on the Fiat 500x.

Here's what the 500x is supposed to look like. It's about the same size as the MINI Countryman.

The diesel from next year's Grand Cherokee will probably make it over to the Dodge Ram 1500.

Haven,

Do you still think the 3.0 is coming to the GC for the 2013 model year?
Someone on here was pretty sure it's not coming till the 2014 model year.

Do you think it will hit the 1500 right away, or maybe after a year or two?
(That might be a good indicator how long it could potentially take to make it into the Wrangler.)

Thanks,

I guess replacing the turd engine proved to be financially advantageous for them, good to hear it.

Not the engine. The gearing. Or should I say lack of gearing. Particularly obvious in the 4 door/larger tires/added weight. Proper re-gear makes a HUGE difference. And the new transmission is actually the strongest link in the 12's.... :ylsmoke:

And this is why it is unlikely that the US will ever see a diesel JK. Today, Chrysler sells their entire US Wrangler manufacturing capacity. They make an average of $10,000 per copy (vehicle). To retro fit their diesel JK sold in other regions to meet the US EPA regulations, then sell them at an adjusted market price (the premium that the market will bear), their profit would be reduced to $4,000 per copy. Fiat-Chrysler clearly recognizes the US diesel JK market potential, it is just not good business.
