how are you guys mounting awnings on pop-up

Hello, i own a Shadow Cruiser pop-up and would LOVE to mount an awning on the passenger side. Are they mounted to the sidewall or the roof or what, some pics and a brief description would be great. I would like to see what others have done

As this is my first slide on pop up (bought for 1000 bux in 2006) i am suprised to see there arent any other Shadow Cruisers on this site. If it is because of level of quality, which this thing does me great, i am sure to be suprised with some of the higher level campers. We're takin two weeks here in a few to go to Oregon and would love to mount an awning. Show me. Thanks

I bought the acrylic (sunbrella type) material and all the hardware online. I sewed it up, mounted the hardware and was good to go. The front and side flaps have vlecro loop on them to mount lights, shade cloth or whatever.

Does the fabric just slip into a C channel of aluminum riveted onto the camper? Like the way a lot of RV awnings are made? I was looking into making a similar version of this.

Correct. It has awning welt sewn on that slips into the awning rail.

When we were prepping our Skamper for the road we grabbed an ARB awning. They would mount great to a strong metal plate with through holes, but that wasn't ideal for our application, as it needed to clear the window and work with the way the Skamper was framed. I fabbed some quick and dirty brackets out of 1" angle and 3" plate, sprayed them, and lag-screwed them on with caulk to seal everything up. 5,000 miles and the trans-labrador highway for a test and they held up great.







Like Stan said, it'll depend on the framing of your specific camper and type of awning.

I have travelled close to 6000 miles with my Shadow Cruiser camper. I just completed a trip with my family to the Grand Canyon, Grand Staircase Escalante, Bryce Canyon, Zion, etc... .
