Expo,

This is an atheistic poll of sorts as to what color I should re-paint my wheels. I did recently paint the wheels but the product I used is not holding up so well. I have a 2002 4Runner that is silver, at this time I’m limited to what I can spray in a rattle can (had great results with the last rattle can job, nearly 3 years). I’ve had good luck with respect to color using the stock color and the dark gray. I’m wondering if gloss white would look ok or just outright horrible on my large bladed wheels, how about bronze or gold. I’ve seen it pulled off on thinner bladed wheels.

Thoughts?

Tough call, I like both the gun metal and the bronze....hey, paint one side one color, and the other side another.

Or throw everyone off and go red or dark red...

I'd color match them to the Runner....

I have the bumpers, and grill matched, and need more chaos and less conformity with the wheels.

flat black has always been my favorite, looks good with any color body

Forgot to put that in the selections, will consider it with gloss and satin black.

I think a flat silver/gun metal would look good on those and your truck.

The current color is flat silver and it does look good but something about the paint is accepting of brake dust and grease and will not let it go short of sanding it. I’m considering just going with the same color.

I actually planned on that or at least completing the job in small segments ending up with 1/2 and 1/2 for a period of time.

Oh hell yes now we are talking, I keep seeing the tuners with green, blue, etc. colored wheels it would probably look really good or not so much. Much like the gloss white I keep thinking about.

The best you can do is stick with whatever color is on there now. So as they scratch, it's not so bad. That's what I've been doing with my FJ steelies. Well, just been repainting them satin black every couple years.
Or go red. I really want to see someone go red. If you do go a different color, clear coat them. they'll last longer and clean up easier.

I really like Bronze wheels if it is the right wheel. Maybe the 5 spoke 4runner limited wheels could pull it off. Seems like the bronze needs thinner spokes

Painting it gloss will help with the brake dust.

White might be a little weird, but heck it is only paint, easy to redo. Just strip it back off and repaint if you don't like it.

I'm painting the LX450 wheels that are on there, they are currently silver and yuck. They were dark gray as seen in the photos and were fading after 3 years. Red might be a bit too much look at me but certainly different.

Sorry, I thought your bumpers were black. I rescind my silver suggestion, and change it to black (preferentially to gloss, but flat would work too.)

I change my own about once a year now. I've gone (black in) gloss, flat, hammertone and gun-metal (grey), pondering silver and white, but gloss black has been best so far)
