Here's the link to a little photo essay from last week's foray to the Keweenaw Peninsula. Colors were at full peak and it was a pretty damn fun time despite my coconspirator dislocating her elbow the first morning.

Some teaser pics....

Michigan dept. of tourism needs to pay you for these trips. It has also been fun to watch you photography improve so much through the years. Really beautiful work.

She is a pretty hardcore skier and has hd some pretty impressive injuries in the past including breaking both her legs dropping into a chute off of a cornice along with a bunch of knee operations. I would rate her pain threshold as being pretty high, with that said, the pain of the dislocation actually caused her to pass out cold for a couple of minutes, eyes open and all. Freaked me out, then when she came to she talked me through what she needed and what to do. I always keep a pretty thorough first aid kid in my truck and for the first time got to use my first responder training by using the triangular bandage to make a sling. haha She gets the gold medal for being a good sport and soldiering through the rest of the trip.

Hi Kristian,
Thank you for sharing the great trip and great photos!
Hope Julie recovers quickly!!!

Thanks Frank, she is doing better already. That happened two weeks ago and she is out of the sling already. She didn't end up breaking anything just stretching the ligaments and aggravating some nerves. She just informed me that she wants to try getting back on the mountain bike Friday so we shall see. haha

Ha ha, I wish. Truth is we have helped out Pure Michigan a bit here and there. The whole UPO thing stems from us trying to promote some of the cool stuff up here in this area that was way off the radar. There is just so much to do around here, truth be told I am gone too much to fully take advantage of it. Thanks for the pic compliment, I appreciate that. I think when I joined Expo I was still shooting 35mm for a couple of years, had a cheapo digi cam for awhile but after that broke kind of embraced the less is more thing and just used the old iphone 3gs, now 4S. Its always in my pocket which lends itself to being able to capture things at a moments notice. That helps alot. haha

Just catching up on your blog Kristian- great trip reports and yes, great pictures. I think I spotted your truck at Autotech just outside of Munising last month- friend and I spent a day there, and got some incredible light. Left a vm, not sure it got through.
cheers

Ah bummer! You must have my old number. Hod told me you were going to be up this way possibly. Would have loved to connect. Next time shoot me a line in advance and I will make it a point. You probably saw my old Disco at TJ's, its called Roam Automotive now.
