Towing with a Montero Sport?

I know my '95 (non sport) is rated for 5000 lbs. What did you want to know?

My 98 is rated for 5000 lbs also, and 6000 lbs with a tension/trailer leveler thing (I forget what they're called)
I have a manual and have towed the 6x12 dual axle uhaul trailer a few times loaded to about 2000lbs, not easy in upwards hills, but definitely doable. Wouldn't recommend more than that unless you have the 3.5 engine. My 3.0 barely puts out 175 hp. But it loves to produces torque.

No problem! :costumed-smiley-007 I have experience with the 5x8 uhaul trailer (little smaller) towing it loaded to the door, stuffed full. That one was fun to drive around, handled nicely, and once I installed some tension bolts in the hitch receiver tube the rattling and bucking eased. Well loading the trailer properly helps the bucking too, but you catch my drift.
I just have to stay out of overdrive (5th gear for me) to keep the rpms up and I am able to maintain speed for the most part.

go for the 3.5l montero sports and you'll have plenty of power to tow. I towed a uhaul trailer loaded to the gills plus interior loaded and a bike on the roof and pulled decent gas mileage while moving from Oregon to Colorado. Went great over a bunch of mountain with no issue.
