IBS Dual Battery System (FJ Cruiser)

So I just finished this project today. One of the last things I had to do to the FJ. The only thing left to do is a Kaymar Rear Bumper with Dual Swingout and some LED's to light up the night.

I had to fab a bracket to get the Fuse Blocks in but other than that is was pretty straight forward and didn't take to long. The 200A Relay is mounted to the side of the battery tray. Enjoy.

Looks nice and clean. What parts did you use?

I used the IBS System, Scoche Battery Terminals, Kicker ANS/ANL Fuse Holder, Blue Sea Systems Fuse Block and various wire from my Car Radio Installation days. I wanted a clean look and I'm happy with the outcome. I don't like thing to look messy and it took me a little longer to install due to running and hiding the wires so you will never see them. The only thing I had to do that can't be taken out was drilling a hole in the panel where I mounted the monitor. I could buy another, but this is the only thing modified.

That IBS is a nice set-up!

You have no idea how long I read through thread after thread deciding which one to buy. I know they are expensive and you can do one cheaper, but I didn't want to have to worry about a lot of different variables were something to fail. Plus, I can easily add solar if the need arise. Are you going to be at you place in N.M. when OEX is going on?

Yeah, I just went with the Dirty Parts kit on mine and it works but yours is better.

My 93-year-old dad is living with us now; he's got Alzheimer's and doesn't travel well, so we're staying in Texas for the time being. Not doing any over landing or four-wheeling either. Have fun at OEX.

Hate to hear that. My Grandfather lived with us during that period as well. I really hated seeing it , but at the same time it brought us closer. I loved hearing his stories about WWII and the Korean War. He was a scary guy but humble at the same time. I will keep you in our prayers. Cheers.

Thanks, I appreciate that. Dad is a WWII vet also; Navy in the Pacific theater. The funny thing is, he remembers way more from that period of time in his life than he does from the last 30-40 years.

I agree. Right before I went I my first deployment he told me this and I will never forget it "I'm proud of you and the decision you made to serve your country. I made the same decision and it changed my life." Three days after I left he passed. To this day I've never forgotten those words and how much it means to serve. If you need anything, let me know.

Nice looking set up. I did my own dual battery setup on my last truck, it was fine but it didn't have some of the nicer features of these kinds of kits. I think I'm going to try one of these dual battery kits this time.

You really should. I've been doing some testing since I put it in and it has performed as expected. I've had the fridge on full blast and it has not hesitated one bit to start. They aren't cheap by any means, and I priced one out doing it myself and it came out to be the same after ordering wire, solenoid, fuses, and all connections. So I just bit the bullet and bought it.

I got it from Matt Green at Exploration Outfitters. Amazing guy to work with. I also got my roof rack from him as well.
