I use a similar type of multi-compartment duffle bag. During cooler temp trips, cold weather gear gets stored in various pockets for easy retrieval.

We recently switched to some North Face Duffel bags and each one of us has a bag (family 4) and everythng goes in it
Clothes in cubes sleeping bag and pad and helinox chair
Tough simple durable fairly weatherproof and easy to get into

Agree a lot depends where you are and going ? are you single ? Married with kids etc...

Do you keep your duffels loaded ready to bug out quickly?

I like to camp the high deserts and mountains around the four corners area. Married, no kids. Wife won't use the word camping without the word hotel being in the same sentence.

The wife and I have been eyeing up those Haulers as well for a few months now but sadly Amazon charge as much in shipping as the bags cost to ship them to Australia. They certainly look the business.

Yeah, I think I'm about to pull the trigger on it. It looks like it'd stack on end right at the back door so easy access to my clothes would be right there out of the elements. There are more doors if I have a passenger along to put their stuff. The best price I found so far is at Amazon -not to rub it in your face Yellow, at $70.14 with free shipping here in the states.

Usually some sort of duffel bag, I've got a few including some dry bags. I've had good service out of the Outdoor Products brand Cordura bags- inexpensive and durable. I'm not as picky as I used to be and a lot of the time they just get thrown behind the seat.

Sierra Trading Post usually has the 3 and the 4 on sale... http://www.sierratradingpost.com/mo...?filterString=s~mountainsmith/&colorFamily=70

I looked briefly into these. WashingtonTaco has a set and from what he was saying they're not quite as robust as you'd hope for. He may have had recovery gear in it though, perhaps he'll chime in. We use the North Face Base Camp duffel bags, size medium which come with backpack straps. They're plenty big for our summer and winter stuff. Different colors for different family members. We use a few stuff sacks to organize the inside. I thought the backpack straps were kind of gimmicky, but turns out that I use them more than I ever thought I would. If I ever have to walk out I'll probably be glad to have them.
