List price is $132 IIRC......

I got it to my door here in SoCal for $100

Differences are the lack of the scoop, the spinner blades that knock the dirt down into the squeeze blub, a more straight-thru tube and no open water drain holes.

When I was getting ready to add a scoop to the inlet I pulled the dust drain-nipple-thingy and discovered just how much street dust the prefilter had grabbed in 3 or 4 days of use


The FJ Cruiser inlet scoop is not going in. It is a huge headache to pull the inner fenderwell skirt and halfway thru I gave up and put it back.

I bought a PVC "street elbow" with a flange on one end which I shortened up and I modified the inlet area too


On the pre-filter I cut its rubber inlet flange back about an inch leaving a little ridge to ensure a tight fit. I used a silicone type sealent to glue it together

I added a new strip of rubber sponge weather stripping and plugged the whole thing back into the fenderwell.

The inlet is angled slightly upward which gives me roughly 40-41 inches above the ground for water fording

Yesterday I spent 4+ hours on the Cleghorn Trail as tailgunner for a group of 12 trucks. The trail was dry and very dusty. Here is what the prefilter kept out of my paper filter

The paper has 1/4" square grid lines.

That looks like a pretty cool add-on! Very functional! I'd call that thing a guard moreso than a scoop, as it shields from head on dirt. Was glad to see you made your own, which also looks quite functional on its own besides saving you from removing the fender.

I didn't realize you were so close. I'm also local to Cleghorn. We did Cleghorn a few weeks back, great trail, took it all the way to the 138.

Ever checked out www.explorehistoricalif.com? They run tours in the Mojave and Owens Valley areas. Great history and offroad trails! They're local, and I've been on a few trails with them.

We should hook up. Yesterday we went out with a guy from another forum, and he showed us some GREAT trails in the Big Bear area. Incredible run!

Back from the dead . . . . does anyone know / remember what the outside diameter is on this? I'd like to run a tube from my airbox back into the cowl similar to this (not into the passenger compartment, it's already loud enough) and would like to size the pipe now so I can add one of these in later without having to change tube sizes

take a look at the pictures in the first few posts and tell me where you want the tube measured. The part number on the outside should be correct.

I'll try to get you the info. The street elbow is glued on so I can't measure it but let me see if I have info elsewhere as well as enlarge the original photos.

Long term report, how has the Cyclone been working for you?

The thing continues to surprise me with how much grit it poulls off of the street. Trail runs in the hills and the deserts still continue to result in this:

That is all grit that would have clogged the air filter or even made it through so I think it is a great investment.
