That's real nice how the front passenger seat back folds down on the Toyota.

have you checked out one in person...pretty dang sweeeeet!

I can get a big ol' motocross gear bag behind the seats.

You can get a slightly used low mile work truck version for around $20K, just too bad no manual trans. I would be all over the long bed version.

short bed isn't bad either

You have seen the youtube videos of "raptor" owners trying to jump their oh-so-prestigious hunks of steel right? You couldn't pay me to own one of those hideous things.

This is expedition portal, not Baja 1000 portal. I was thinking in terms of turning it into a decent overland exploring vehicle. Having a 4:10 rear Elocker and a short wheel base gives it potential. Though some have tried, Raptors are not a good choice for long distance overland travel. Maybe I should have said a 21st century version of an 80's era 4 runner? :bike_rider:

You can take both disciplines of each and combine them. Some mid to long travel suspension on an expedition vehicle will be easier on the body and equipment
if you refrain from driving like a mad man.

Not a FOrd, but you can see what I am referring to. :)

Yup, that's the idea! Without the plastic fender flares :). Though I was thinking simpler, a 2" spacer lift, larger tires and everything else stock just to save money. FX4 comes with skid plates and other protection.

But they're still sweet for tent camping and lighter loads. It's the trucks sports car-like GVWR that kills it for expo use.
I've actually been impressed by them. They have their niche. Sliding in a camper, and heavy steel bumpers, and racks of junk aint thier niche.

I looked at the Tundras and F150's before I bought my F250. The Tundra had the advantage over the F150 then, but the newer Fx4 and STX seem like better trucks to me. What am I missing? (4.6L, 5.0L, not Eco)

I think it is funny that there are now more tundra pictures in this thread Han ford pictures

sorry, my fault...couldn't find many good examples of lifted RCSB F150's, you would
think for how many F150's that are sold, there would be a lot of examples...

for all out practicability I think the RC Tundra wins because of the space behind the seats...then comes the Dodge... (IMO) :) be nice if the rest of the manufactures followed suit with their RC's. a F250/350 RC sure would nice like that

Yes, if you travel light and tent camp, carrying everything you need, those Raptors are a comfortable ride. The newer SuperCrew versions have 1200lbs cargo capacity. Because they are 6" wider than a standard F150, it gets a little cramped out here in the Eastern forests. Really lousy mpg too :). Most of the ones I see here in NoVa are driven by posers, not a scratch on them.

Heck, they are built for out here in the dezzzzzzz....

Most rolling around town here look like street queens. Nary a pinstripe...

Today I saw a newer RCSB Chevy, don't see those very often either, looked very nice running what appeared to be 33's.

Apparently the white one is a legit Raptor. The blue one is a body and suspension job.

My choice would be the white one with a solid front axle and 38-40" tires. No lift. Track width greater than the wheelbase?

Solid front axle would completely defeat the purpose of a Raptor

I'm not sure most ExPo'ers really know what a Raptor is and how it differs from a F150
