ABS pump, if you don't have the hydraulic booster assembly (i.e. if you have the regular old vacuum-assist brake booster. Interestingly enough, that mount is nearly identical to the one used on the first generation Tacoma for the ABS pump.

So, does that mean it came as OEM and the previous owner removed it?

Thats the same spot the ABS "box" goes in the 1st Gen Tundras...ABS was optional on them till about '03 or '04, when I believe it became standard,IIRC..??..You might want to research online if ABS was optional or not for 2010....To see if you originally had it or not, look under the truck at all four of the brake backing plates...If you see electrical connectors on them, you probably HAD ABS, till someone removed the "box" and lines...

he he

Happened to a friend in venezuela- sent his ABS equiped truck in for a service and it came back without ABS..........

he only noticed after a few weeks when stopping on gravel and noted the abs was'nt kicking in.....checked under the hood to see if he could see any obvious issues

then noted the empty space and the wires tucked behind the loom

too late by then

garage probably sold it on for 1kusd to another owner...

Your truck likely has A Trac? Hill Decent? IE its a TRD Offroad package?

If so then all that is controlled by the ABS. On trucks with all the traction aids it is all a self contained unit on the fire wall were the pedal comes through. Large electronic unit. Also to note when you bleed the brakes the key must be in the on position. Pump has to run.

I'm like 99% certain that this info is correct.

That mount is for trucks without all the bells and whistles. Trucks with only ABS. The ABS pump goes in that location.

What is looks like when all the truck has is ABS and no traction control aids at all.
Don't worry nothing was removed from you r truck...It simply never had it in that location.

Both my 2009 and 2010 Tacomas, which I bought new, have the same bracket. I have not removed anything from that spot. Allegedly, that bracket was for the mounting of the TRD CAI. I'm guess from your pictures this is not the case.

No its for the ABS unit of trucks with only ABS and no Traction aids. Basically the mount for base model trucks.
They use the same inner fender is all, and leave the mount in place. No biggie.

That photo is of my Reg Cab truck. 5spd without any traction control.
