Class Action suit against Land Rover for crappy tires gains momentum

It seems the class action lawsuit against Land Rover has come to fruition. The suit is "Colon v. Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC" Superior Court of California, Santa Clara County, Case No. 1 06-CV-075163

Today I received a letter from LRNA asking a series of questions that basically serve to establish how much money you may have spent screwing around with your crappy OEM tires, including balancing, rotation, alignment, replacement, etc... This document calls everything "out of pocket expenses" and recharacterizes them as "reimbursable expenses". At the end of the document, you are given an option to seek 100% reimbursement of your expenses, or receive a voucher for 200% of your expenses towards the purchase of a new Land Rover or Jaguar.

It is unclear to me if service costs related to bushing wear is included, though it should be because that contributed to much of the uneven wear issues.

What shocks me is that Land Rover stills ships the LR3/4 with incredibly unsatisfactory tires!

Bushings have nothing to do with the pos goodyear tires. But they do make tires wear out faster. The gy are literally the worst tires I have ever seen IMO.

I am interested to see how far this gets.

I have seen no letter yet and have bought the following new:
in 2006, an 06 lr3
in 2006, an 07 full size Range Rover
in 2007, an 07 lr3 (don't ask why this after the above)

How does LRNA find us? My address is different now than when purchases were made however I frequent the local dealer.

remember the stock tires that came on the older land rovers, the Michelin "XPC 4x4" I think it was called. Now that was a great all around tire. It wasn't as rugged as something like the BFG AT or GY Duratrac but it was perfectly fine in almost all conditions and wore well.

The thread title says it is a lawsuit for crappy tires. That's not the case. It's for incorrect/poor suspension and wheel alignment, which then lead to poor tire wear.

Trying to prevent misinformation from spreading...

I don't fully agree. Yes, the bushings are made of peanut butter, but the GoodForOneYear Wrangler HP's are an embarrassment to the brand.

Whether you agree or disagree is completely irrelevant. That's not what the lawsuit is about. The lawsuit is about suspension alignment, not tires. Read the text of the suit filing.
