Questions about my planned Electrical System

I want to make sure I'm not smoking dope about my planned electrical system for my trailer. First, here is the plan:

Power System.jpg

General info:

Solar controller is 10w max
shore-line charger is 2 X 5w
.

1) How do I want to run the wire the batteries (they are both going to be 12v) to run as the power for a 12v system (parallel is the set-up I'm looking for if I'm thinking right)?

2) Any general advise or recommendations for this plan?

Thanks guys!

In general it looks fine, but we could probably offer more meaningful specific comments if we knew the hardware you were thinking of purchasing + the power requirements of your trailer.

Check your specs again - 10W for the solar controller and 5W for the shore power seem miniscule. Maybe you meant Amps?

Yes, parallel.

I'm sure he meant a 10 amp solar controller, as that is what was discussed in his other thread. I'd probably want at least a 20A shore charger though.

Also, I'd suggest using a simple (heavy duty) switch if you want to turn the main power to your fuse block on & off. Reason being is a solenoid or relay continuously draws a small current when energized (100-200ma, or about the same as a two-way radio turned on and receiving). You'd be drawing that current the entire time it's turned on.

Yep, I'm a dummy. I meant amps, not watts! For power "drawing" equipment, the big ticket item will be a marine fridge drawing approximately 3.5 amps per hour. After that, a Shurflo water pump and LED lights.

Yes, parallel.

I can do a simple switch if need be. I was just hoping to make the switch remote (on the exterior wall of the trailer, behind a compartment door). If I go with a simple switch, I'll be lifting the bottom edge of the mattress every time I need to switch it, but that's not bad at all actually. It's not like I'll be accessing it a lot.

Thanks a lot guys! This is the input I was looking for!
