It was a good time for sure. Trying to make more time to get out with my dad and son together.

Leveling jacks on the rear worked awesome, I think I'm going to replace the tongue jack with the same model, it will be nice to have it removable and it has a huge throw.
Discovered that the previous owner installed the new hand pump/12v sink faucet like a moron and its leaking when ever you use the hand pump. Looks like its missing parts so Ill probably have to rig something up.

Been making some slow progress..
Between 2 jobs, mandatory over time at job #1 and everything else doesn't leave much time for projects..

Got the new inverter installed.

Next I back tracked every wire that i could find in the camper to try to figure out the exterior lighting.
The fixtures are daisy chained together and the old fixtures were crappy push connector style that were super corroded.

So I rolled the dice on the rest of the wiring being good and the fixtures being the problem. Ordered some new LED units from camping world.
There was a generous amount of what looks like plumbers putty on the back of the old fixtures. I reused it on the new ones.

Replaced the water inlet today as well, the old one was broken and had a plastic plug in it.

I tow this thing around with a Jeep Cherokee. In an effort to make sure I dont have a bad time I threw some preventative maintenance at it in the towing department.

First was a filter and fluid change for the AW4 4 speed. As well as a new trans cooler that is approx double the size of the stock one.

While the pan was down I welded a nut into the pan for a trans temp sensor so I can keep a closer eye on it while towing.

This last weekend I swiss cheesed the back of the air box and welded a Flowmaster 40 in place of the stock cat and muffler. Welded a little spacer in for the rear 02 sensor and the check light has yet to come back on after a 150 miles or so.

Figured out a shade structure today out of a bunch of stuff I had laying around.

That is exactly what I want to do. You can pick up truck campers pretty cheap and put them on a trailer. It overhangs the tongue so the overall length stays small as possible. I would put a storage box up front for carrying gear. Very cool.

Took a trip to the Great Sand Dunes with my son and family for my birthday.

Shade structure worked well. Its pretty flexible, going to make a couple modifications to it but I think its a keeper. Going to make the base plates bigger, and a couple more eye loops on the camper to add a 2nd tarp (they snap together) to make it 2 sided.

Very innovative build! You put in a lot of time, Nice job! I was thinking some expanded steel around the front of the trailer to help keep stuff from falling out the sides would be nice.

Thanks! I did the same thing with my son, we put in 4 nights in my parents driveway over weekends while I was working on the camper. He did really well, now he will tell me hes ready to go get in his bed. Ill tuck him in and go back to the camp fire.

Thanks Badlands,
I'm really at a cross roads with this build. The Cherokee pulls it but it defiantly has its limitations, especially in the heat.
I'm starting to have serious thoughts of picking up an old school F450 or something similar. Having a 15K+ GVWR, plenty of power, brakes and cooling is starting to sound more and more appealing. It would defiantly up my ability to explore, turning the trailer around in the back country is a chore.

It would let me take it to a lot more events as well, like the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.
