The Toyos on the Jeep are 35/12.5/17 and have 33k miles on them. I just bought new Nitto 285/75/17 as I want to go to a lighter set-up to improve mileage. I was going back and forth worrying that the new Nitto's (same company as Toyo) wouldn't look big enough to fill the wheel wells. I think I'll be OK :) I thought I'd put this out there so the next guy can find pictures of these two sizes. This post is duplicated on jeep forum.

Once you mount them on the Jeep, they won't offer too much difference in overall size. That pic makes them look much larger.

The Nitto Trails are a little lighter at 69 lbs and 34.09 x 11.57 vs Toyo's 79lbs and 34.8 x 13.20. In weighing my 35" Toyo's when new, they were+/- 2lbs of 79.

I have ran both tires on JK's and they both do well. I did not see any mpg difference between the two. Both JK's had AEV 3.5" and 4.5" lifts and stubby bumpers (roughly the same overall weight). The Nitto Trails were a little quitter.

Thanks for the comparison, I have been contemplating a switch from 33s to the 285s. I am planning a WJ brake upgrade and want a little taller than the 33s I have but I don't think 35s will fit. I wonder how much they will settle on a rim and on the truck.

Be prepared for an ever increasing left hand pull with the Nitto's as they wear. At 50% tread, they were so bad the truck would change lanes in about 5 seconds. Traction wise, the Trails did exceptionally well, second only to the MTR/K. They are tough too.

I will post a pic when I finished getting them mounted and on the truck in reverse (Toyo's off the truck and Nitto's on the truck. It may be a few weeks though.

Here are the mounted pictures. The first pic is the opposite of the first post. The Toyo 35x12.5x17 is off the Jeep and the Nitto 285x75x17 is now on the Jeep. The second and third pics have the Toyo 35/12.5/17 mounted on the left side and the Nitto 285/75/17 mounted on the right side.

Here's a shot from the back with the Nitto on the Jeep and the Toyo off. Both are mounted to rims. A noticeable difference in height and width...

Weird...in both pics (original and reversed mounted), the tire on the Jeep looks smaller. Optical illusion, or just because loaded vs. unloaded?

Loaded vs unloaded. The difference is greater with the 285/75/17. It's smaller on the Jeep than the 35/12.5/17. And don't forget the difference would be greater if the 35" Toyo's were new. These have about 30k miles on them.

Thank you, after your first pics I thought I was crazy for wanting the 385s. Now I feel better.
