Mitsubishi Dealer Parts Phase-out

Hello,
I just wanted to get people's feedback on the future of keeping our Gen-2's running, I have had several cases now where the dealer has informed me that parts have been "Obsoleted" and are no longer available. One was the plastic fuel line between the nipple on the pump and the beginning of the steel line going forward, and the other was front drive shafts. Is this a concern for parts that haven't been picked up by an aftermarket manufacturer? Are we at risk of running out of critical parts in North America?
Thanks

Its true with ANY old vehicle. back when the Gen 2 started production, OEs only had to commit to 10 years of service parts. So figure Gen 2.5 (many parts the same) ended in 2000, we are getting to the end folks. Most OEMs are now at support for 15 years after end of production.

Don't forget the last Gen 2 rolled off the assembly line in 2013, there's a good chance that the dealer you went to may not have updated parts database. Look up your parts yourself and just order them online or have the dealer order your part number. On top of that Hyundai seems to pick things up at some point so it's a part numbers and location game, i'm sure the stuff exists. Like 15 years ago it was impossible to find 4D55 parts OEM or aftermarket (at least at a reasonable price) and now with Hyundai making 4D56s parts are everywhere and cheap.
I'm not real worried about finding Montero Parts, at least not now or any time soon.

My local dealer told me that the dealers are all networked together by Mitsubishi, and so the US Mitsubishi inventory is available for all US dealers to draw from. They've told me that replenishment has stopped for many parts, so unless they decide to ship more to the U.S., you won't be getting those parts from Mitsubishi again. I thought this was due to the Montero being phased out of North America. I'm guessing parts would be produced for other markets as long as they can make money on them and there is a demand, and I'm pretty sure the Pajero is alive and well outside of North America. My sense is that there are fewer and fewer Gen-2's on the road every year here and it just doesn't pay for them to continue to support the brand in the US. I am new to the forum and it is good to hear that others aren't worried. I'm planning on keeping mine alive as long as possible.

This is correct, I look up my own part numbers and place the order through a local dealer (Big 2 Mitsubishi) or online (Bruce Titus AKA mitsubishiparts.net) with no issues. On a side note i have even ordered parts for non domestic models directly from Japan with no issues like a Pajero 2.4L engine flexplate, adapter, spacer and bolts. It came from Japan to the dealer, the only problem is that if the part you order is wrong there are no refunds on parts like that.

I recently tried to order some critical parts for my gen3 such as crossmemeber bushings and toe adjustment bolts to find all are no longer available/discontinued. This is completely unacceptable in my humble opinion and has completely turned me off from buying another Mitsubishi product. Heck, I can still get a multiltude of parts for my 75 Land Cruiser from Toyota.
