Yes, but they are made from unicorn bones, that have magical stopping abilities.
Never understood the appeal of leather in a vehicle that sees the dirt...but hey, this is the Expedition Portal...where glamping is king.
Honestly, I'd rather have leather in a truck... It tends to hold up to spills and dirt better than most cloth. /glamper
Even the numbers on the engine make the term "upgrade" questionable.
But yes, rear drums. C channel frame. Mostly the same truck.

Been covered a number of times, but the new Tacoma is about as new as the "new" Tundra... while it has new skin and interior, the base truck (frame, cab, etc) are virtually the same. Engine, transmission, rear diff did get upgrades.
Just one of the many reasons my next Toyota will be a 4 Runner. When you get a chance to look at a new Taco look in the drivers door jam. You will find a decal stating the pathetic payload. 1050 for the double cab.
Add a canopy- 150 lbs, sliders- 150 lbs, front bumper and winch - 200 lbs, rear bumper with swing out -175 lbs, camping gear (stove, tent, duffel bags) 80 lbs, you and your honey 325 lbs =1080 lbs. You have just passed the max payload with out a fancy drawer system, fridge, RTT or any recovery gear.
What about for guys who don't need any of that? I pretty much only need a topper...all my camper gear fits behind the seats of an Access Cab. All the hard off-road stuff I save for the dirt scooter.
'16 ACLB has a payload of 1295#, that is only 335lbs. less than of the Tundra DCSB...seems fine to me.
Though payload aside, I would like that 8' bed of Tundra RCLB. Could put my cot, moto, and camp stuff in there without having to unload and re-arrange things...while in camp mode.
Is the 1295 you state from the brochure or the actual decal in the door jam? I noted a discrepancy from the brochure manual and the actual capable weight. If you don't really wheel your Taco and need all the add on then sure its fine.
Yeah the new Tacoma doesn't really impress me....but people keep buying them and so Toyota keeps making them.
I wondered the same thing in regard to the rear drum brakes on the 2016 Tacoma.
Then i found this article and video regarding their choice to stick with drums on the rear. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2015/08/2016-toyota-tacoma-still-rear-drum-brakes-heres-video/
