True weight ?

I've been looking at several different pop up brands , specifically for small trucks like ranger , tacoma , anyway how accurate are the
weights the manufactures are boasting . I'm thinking the used market sellers private or dealers maybe fib a little to sell their product.
One wouldn't really know unless they went to a scale after the fact... Thoughts ?

Some sort of lost...
They are all heavy. Usually the weights are of a "standard build with standard options". Propane, water, batteries etc all add up. Some manufacturers are actually weighing units as they leave the factory, but I don't recall which ones. It also seems to vary by year.

If you're concerned with exceeding GVWR, I'll just tell you. You'll be over gross in nearly any of those trucks with nearly any camper, by the time you sit in it, add fuel and water, and any sort of gear. You'll be spending money upgrading suspension, tires etc.

It isn't a dealer's job to educate you on weights, despite what a lot of people think. They are there to sell units and make money.

I knew within 20# what my FWC was going to weigh before I purchased it. I took the base weight from the website and asked for a list of option weights from FWC. The weight certificate I was hand was actually less than my estimate. Don't know why everyone keeps complaining about being surprised by weight at delivery. My advice, research and ask the manufacturer to provide you with the information.

I'm 99% sure I 'll be purchasing used/not abused FWC , I have a F-350 cc and would like to find one I can modify the bed to north/south. It seems that brand has by far
the best reviews on everything from quality to durability.

Thanks everybody.

FWC has a N/S arrangement if asked for. They extend the slide rails, make the slide out longer, and add two additional cushions. The interior configuration can limit this. For example if the sink/faucet is under the slide out then a flush mount sink is needed so the faucet can be stowed when the slide is out. If you take the base camper weight which should be on the tag somewhere on the exterior of the camper and get a options list with weights you can get an estimate.

The fact you have a 1 ton though, I'd just weigh the truck and then the camper/truck combination to get my camper weight.

Thanks for the info , I think I'd rather have the living space , I can live with E/W.I was looking into bath/shower , now I believe a 8' with porta potty will be fine,
That will also lesson the weight.

What most of us underestimate is the "ready to roll" weight with all the "stuff" we have to have, plus the "stuff" we might need, plus ourselves, and our personal "stuff"......
I'm not good at paring it down to the very basic essentials either....
That's why I have a one-TONner. :)

I also like to be PrEPARED , I have overloads and air bags. currently my hard side which I have on C/L to trade for soft side , weighs about 2300 ready to roll, I can feel the weight . but it certainly doesn't make the truck squat...lol
