Currently have a roof basket installed on top of Yakima round bars. Needed some feedback on mounting the holder to by roof rack. I searched a few threads but came up empty.

Not the most detailed pic but hopefully it'll give you some ideas. I mounted my single can Frontrunner holder to my loadwarrior basket using two pieces of unistrut. The strut channel is under the basket, I used 1/4" allen bolts and strut channel nuts to clamp the holder to the basket.

My first thought (and the defining though as to why I personally would not put a fuel can on top of a rig) is - the weight! 5 gallons x 8lbs per gallon = 40lbs... on TOP. Center of gravity goes in a bad direction. Keep the weight low as possible.

Thanks for the reply but the pic you provided is not loading. Would love to see what you did. I am still looking for ideas!
Agree that putting weight up high isn't great but gasoline weighs around 6.1 lbs / gallon. It's <3/4 the density of water.

I came up with a mounting system..had to get creative..I over engineered the system a bit but its just that much more safer as well as stable.
