Did you actually pick up the phone to call and ask to speak to a manager or just contact via e-mail and correspond with some monkey who likely never graduated from high school? If you are proactive and put in some effort you will have a more positive outcome.

To answer your original question, although it may be moot at this point... I think of them as sharing a "character" or a vibe but not much else. Gen3 is more comfortable, more NVH over rough roads, better auto transmission with the addition of a fifth gear, bigger feel and actual footprint. Less "feel" than the gen2. Drive by wire and rack and pinion steering takes something away on the gen3 compared to the gen2. Others may disagree...

Love them both for different reasons. Thus I think there's a legitimate case for having one of each.
