My latest Eurovan Creation "Shades of Grey"

Figured I would share my latest Eurovan creation.

Here is the cliff notes "after" picture. This van started life as a tiptop

It's now a full Weekender Poptop. But unlike the factory poptop vans is now has rear AC and the Climatronic digital dual zone climate control.

The poptop and the bottom of the van are bed lined in charcoal grey to compliment the silver van.

The bedliner on the top will protect it against scratches from loading gear on top and from the top hitting trees when out camping.

The bed liner on the bottom will help prevent rust and the door steps and rear bumper will add traction and paint protection.

The interior door handles are also bedlined in the same grey. This makes them match the exterior and also gives a durable door handle while eliminating the annoying "soft touch". I've done these on several vans now and love it!

These all match the exterior bed liner.

The seat bases were cut down 1" to accommodate the swivel. Then painted in charcoal grey outside and bright red inside, carpeted and reflective red shock cord added for extra storage. The charcoal grey paint on the seat bases was also used on the rear bed supports, the H-bar, the entire poptop frame and bed board frames.

I also installed a euro dash cubby and a new Blaupunkt stereo.

CaveVan vinyl flooring, custom hard wood table and upper bed boards/celing,

Upper grey bed board, charcoal frame, red button

Of course I also added the titanium and deluxe grey Fiamma awning, the red brakes. It has a H&R Cup kit on it but that is being replaced with proper Westfalia springs and a 1.5" CaveVan lift.

This is about the closest I have to a "before" picture. Except I'd already bed lined the lower part of the body here.

Very nice attention to detail.

So were the parts professionally truck bed lined or did you use a DIY kit/material?

Hows the sprinter lift going?

I used Monstaliner. I've used in on 4-5 vans now. I like that I can tint it any color I want and its something I can do myself. So doing little bits like the door handles works out the way I want them.

The Sprinter is waiting on shock, brake and steering parts. (should be here tomorrow). Then it will get some of its own bed liner next to fix/cure/protect/change the color of the tan/silver part of the paint.

I may actually redo the floor in the sprinter with bed liner too.

The Monstaliner will stick to just about any painted surface. It needs only a degrease, scuff/sand, and final solvent wipe. It is surprisingly tough, and very thick. It doesn't cure as hard as most 2 part urethanes, so it resists chipping very well.

Re: Monstaliner: Two questions:

1) Brush on? 2) Could one do light tints?

My 20+ year old GTRV pop-top (technically a LuLu Island top) is probably going to need some sort of re-coat soon. GTRV was not very forthcoming with info on what they'd charge to recoat. I'd DIY, but the prospect of de-mounting the pop-top is daunting, so I'm wondering if this was something I could do this in my driveway (with a lot of masking, etc.). I'd hate to lose the reflective-white in my desert climate, though.

Thanks Cole. That van's a beauty.

Monstaliner is available in white and a variety of light colors. Supposedly it can be custom tinted, but I have not investigated in detail.

It is designed for a roll on application. The texture actually comes from the roller, not the liner. It can be applied in a driveway, but you would need to choose a day with low wind. Anything within 5ft needs to be masked, as the roller can create small droplets.

Another option would be a marine paint such as Interlux Brightside. These are one part urethanes designed for brush/roll application on boats. Since most boats cannot be worked indoors, this paint drys quickly, and can be applied using the roll and tip method.
