2015 VW GTI Autobahn, 4-door, 6MT, 100% options: Performance Package, Lighting Package, Dynamic Chassis Control and Driver Assistance Package

Cost
$26,000

Trades?
A 2015 or newer BMW 1200 GS Adventure (plus cash on your end). Not really interested in much else but see if you can tempt me anyway. (Well, I'd love to trade for a 100 or 200 series Landcruiser but that one won't pass muster at home!)

Location
Portland, Oregon

Mileage
63XX miles

Selling because
Buying a new Ford Transit to convert to camper, so sadly this little gem must go. Can't justify having three cars (plus moto, plus bicycles!)

Details
Chances are that if you’re interested in this car, you already know a little bit about it in general. But here are some details:
  • 2015 VW GTI Autobahn, Reflex silver
  • 4 door
  • 6 speed manual transmission
  • The Autobahn package includes full leather seats, Fender stereo, 12-way power driver’s seat, moon roof, dual climate control, touchscreen nav
  • Performance package—10 extra horsepower totaling 220, really cool electronic limited slip differential
  • Lighting package—Bi-xenon lights with adaptive headlights that track as you make turns
  • Dynamic Chassis Control — Choose between Comfort, Normal, Sport, or Individual mode
  • Driver assist package: beeps at you as you park and hollers if you're about to rear end someone

We've had this car for just over a year. As you can see by the low miles, we don't drive it a ton. Around town we're usually on bikes and on fun trips we're on the GS or in our 4Runner. (That being said, this is a great highway car).

Upon taking delivery of this car I gave it a light polish and have sealed it with either synthetic or carnauba waxes a number of times. Paint is in great shape. Also, I installed Weathertech mats immediately, so the floors are like new.

Note that this car is lowered a tiny bit, but just enough to close some wheel gap. It is 100% drivable and not "slammed." Also have wheel spaces installed. Both of these things can easily be undone should you desire. (OEM stock springs included with this purchase). But as it sits this GTI looks better than stock, though the casual observer probably wouldn't notice. Ride is *slightly* firmer -- I think in a good way -- but again, you might not notice unless I told you.

Always use premium gas. Changed the oil at 5000 miles because I felt like it. (10,000 service interval). "Full service records" which consist of:
  • 100% gas fill up records
  • receipts from DIY oil change
  • receipts for accessories
Adult driven. Let's be honest: I've definitely had some fun using the car as intended (after the break-in period) but have not whooped on it at all.

Things we love about this car:
  • Amazing value: great fit and finish, super fun to drive
  • Highway mileage: long highway trips we’ve gotten 38 mpg
  • Visibility. Nice view of the road. I’m 6’ 3” and still have room between my head and the ceiling, and my vision is not blocked by the roofline.
  • Surprisingly great Fender stereo
  • Ergonomics are great. The car is comfortable for both me and my 5’ 6” partner to drive.
  • Design of the interior is beautifully simple and classy, not crazy like you see in so many cars today. Interior lighting is really nice.
  • Really like the moonroof, it's transparent shade, and the matching OEM screens in the back
  • Stereo reduces volume when you’re in reverse (this is customizable.) Speaking of which, the backup camera is hidden and the rear VW emblem flips up to expose it. Pretty cool.
  • 6MT!
  • Dynamic Chassis Control. I like all of the modes! What's more, "sport" mode is still totally reasonable and not uncomfortable. "Comfort" mode on the highway is fantastic.

Things we don’t love:
  • VW’s proprietary MDI cable for phones (there is no USB port)
  • Instrument cluster plastic is known to be very soft, so I’ve only ever cleaned it with compressed air—kind of a pain, but didn’t want to scratch it.
  • Like all auto touchscreens, this one isn't anything special.
  • So. Much. Brake. Dust. In. Front. True to it's Teutonic heritage, I guess.

Extras
  • WeatherTech mats, front, rear and cars
  • OEM monster mats, front and rear
  • OEM carpet mats
  • OEM "Cargo Control" mat and blocks
  • Wheel locks
  • OEM Euro safety triangle that fits in a special part of the hatch
  • OEM rear and hatch window shades
  • VWR sport springs (currently installed)
  • OEM springs
  • ECS tuning wheel spacers (currently installed)
  • OEM Euro light switch (enabling fogs to be on whenever you want -- currently installed)
  • OEM light switch
  • Platypus tow-hook license plate bracket — front bumper has not been drilled
  • New OEM front honeycomb grill
  • OEM mud guards (removable)
  • OEM door edge protectors (removable -- driver door removed and gone)

Minor imperfections
  • Ding on passenger’s inside door jam. Not visible when door is closed. I think someone closed the seatbelt into the door. (pic attached)
  • Small scrape on underside plastic. Not visible unless you’re underneath the car. Piece can be replaced, part costs $80
  • Crack in the front honeycomb grill (pic attached). Fairly easy replacement.
  • Very minor rock chip in front (pic attached). Could be repaired with Dr. Colorchip

Did not take any interior pics because you should just go to VW's site and look there! But if you want to see pics of anything just let me know.

Pics of the imperfections for full disclosure

I'm happy to facilitate a fly and drive, or help with shipping that you arrange. I'd even consider delivering if the details work out.

Interested? Let's talk! I prefer emails to librarian at gmail dot com or phone calls to 503.2oo.42oo but will check PMs here too.

Thanks for reading!

Some sort of lost...
Nice car! Might be the wrong crowd here but good luck with the sale. My wife just totaled our 2010 golf tdi, I would highly consider this to replace it, if I hadn't bought a new GLI in December. Our GLI is similarly equipped and it is a great car. Driver assist and adaptive HID lighting are awesome. Great car for the money.
