Hey everyone. So after some long deliberation, internet research and forceful hair removal I have finally decided on which vehicle will be my trail rig. To start with I am from the great state of Indiana. I've been off roading most of my life and have had a few 4x4s. I think I'm gonna slow it down a bit and enjoy whats around me more.
Now my choices were a 2001 Silverado and a 1994 Grand Cherokee. The silverado is DD and the jeep was purchased last year with the idea of a bug out vehicle. So after a long list of pros and cons we decided to go with the jeep.
I found this jeep in the side yard of an abandoned farm house and was able to score it for 500.00. One battery and five gallons of gas the jeep fired right up and drove home. After arriving home I started listing all the things I needed to fix. 2500.00 dollars later I've replaced all the steering components, a rough country 3.5 inch lift Chapparel 31 x 10.50x15 tires, a roof rack, led lights, cb radio, blue-tooth radio, new exhaust, fresh coat of matte green paint, new headlights and taillights that the body shop where I work smoked them for me, a hand built storage system, and 4 steel jerry cans. That's were it sits right now.
None of these new parts have seen over 10 miles as I kept this tucked away in the garage so it would be ready for a rainy day. That being said I feel as though that is such a waste of money. So I tried to sell it but had zero offers. Seems kinda meant to be that I finish this jeep and reconfigure it to be an adventure rig.
