New Member + Hawaii shipping help

Hey everyone! Been a forum stalker for a little while, but a new member in response to ordering my Taco TRD Pro. Yes, I know there is no overlanding in Hawaii, but we want to set up the truck with a few things before we head back to the mainland so we can hit the ground running. My question comes for help with shipping stuff. I have set my sights on the CBI rock sliders, but shipping is an insane amount on top of the already not so inexpensive part. Does anyone have any ideas or insightful knowledge on whether I can get around this? I haven't called any of the local off roading shops yet as I wanted to check here for ideas and options first. Thanks for the help in advance.

That's what I was afraid of. I've talked to friends who have been here for a while and it seems like none of them trust the fabrication ability of the shops around here.

from Maui but moved to the mainland about ten years ago but IMHO value of cars and shipping cost unless you have some thing you cant let go sell it on island buy another here :)

value there is so strong on things and what can be had here is so wide and cheap compared especially by the time you hassle shipping its not worth the hassle especially since it sounds like you know you are coming here UNLESS its just for a trip then that is one expensive trip to ship a vehicle back and forth :)

I don't know if this is pertinent, but one of the things I always notice when I'm in Hawaii or near the ocean is the amount of rust on the vehicles. Do you want to spend the money on a part or rig that is starting to degrade as soon as it's out in your elements? I remember seeing newish tacomas in Kauai that were already looking so aged. 😩 Very sad.

my nice cars were nice but even taking insane care of them they would start to rust no matter what you do by about 5+ years !

I see vehicles around like that as well, but there are also a lot of vehicles that are in fairly decent shape. Take car of your rig and it'll take care of you. There are measures that one can take in order to help slow down the effects of the salt water air, if not protect it outright.

I did get a chance to talk to the guys at CBI, and they were very helpful in informing me of a local shop that they ship to. Talked to the shop and got a shipping quote. Waiting for CBI to get back to me with a shipping quote from the shipping service. Still won't be cheap, but it's not quite as bad as I thought it would be. I'll have to check out the shiptohawaii site.
