LED Headlight Recommendation

Are there any aftermarket LED headlight manufacturers recommended? There are tons on Amazon with decent reviews but I'd love to hear input from anyone that's put some through the ringer.

Thanks!

Opt7, I have the highs and lows, my son has them in his car and I have another set on standby. I’ve had them for about 3 years now, I have zero issues, or complaints and their customer service is awesome!

Years past, I used (((Trucklite))) 7” round military headlamps. They were great and dammed expensive too.
Fwiw, perhaps you could specify vehicle ?
Maybe verify if its entire headlamp wanted or just LED bulb replacement.

My order of preference is J.W. Speaker, Truck Lite, Grote, Rigid. All of the of aftermarket LED bulb swaps are JUNK. There has been no LED designed to mimic the thermeatric emissions of a incandescent filament. The reflector and the lens must be engineered to match the LED. No bulb swap is going to come close to matching. The whole assembly must be engineered as a whole.

Go ask the experts. They will set you straight on what works and doesn't work.

RetroShop is now selling LED projectors fitted into stock headlight housings, introductory sale pricing, not cheap. Don't know how good they are, but gotta be better than drop-ins.

I was poking around and found Hella has some very impressive looking LED driving/fog/spot lights. They have a familiar form factor but have been designed from the ground up around the LEDs. 8 and 6” round plus other shapes.

Some cool stuff but not a headlight replacement.

I'll add this from the adv bike/dual sport side of things. A few years ago, I put an H4 led bulb in my DR350. While it produced massive amounts of bright, white light, the light was everywhere...the road, the sides & even the tree canopy. Oncoming motorists would flash high beams at me. I recently bought a V Strom & learned of "low beam cut-off" while researching LED's for it. A brand "AuxBeam" came well recommended in the V Strom community for it's low beam cut off characteristics. I installed them & they are fantastic. The light is where it should be, not scattered all over. I don't know if it's hit-or-miss, if a certain bulb behaves differently in different reflectors. Good luck

I have jw speakers in a couple trucks, and now I want upgrade my Mgb and Rs trooper. A few years back they were unquestionably the best brand but also the most expensive. Has value engineering benefited this segment? Anyone as good as jw speaker without the premium price? I notice cheap flashlights have gotten ludicrously bright and are decent now, I’m hoping not to spend 700 a truck again.

Thanks. I’ll dive into it. If I can keep the mgbgt from looking odd with out of period glass, that would be awesome.

If you live in a climate where snow is common during the winter season, you'll regret LED headligts. The do not generate heat and will ice up. Halogen and HID create enoug heat to melt the snow on the lens, in most instances.

That hasnt been my experience with LED lights in northern Alberta. They do just fine handling the snow and ice.
