Im saying this tongue in cheek but...Just put an old Chevy Volt up on top and get an extra 100 miles range.

I admit I'm having a hard time with kWh, amps, conversions, etc and seeing that, to my possibly flawed perception, that nearly half that trailer if made up of batteries and battery control systems? It is obviously a pop-top, so I'm wondering if that's ok because the sleeping quarters are up top?

Genuinely curious, the regen axle makes a big difference , after all a flat battery weighs as much as a charged one , that is a lot of mass to put to work retarding.

was a career firefighter for 32 years. Hate if you like, but the fossil fuel trucks (which I love and own) catch fire at an enormously higher rate. I worked in NJ, covered the NJ Turnpike, to date, I think we've had thousands of gas/diesel fires. We have 1 EV so far.

I think those are super interesting. Vastly more expensive, not really for off roading, beach, etc. The batteries weigh in total 325 lbs. Not too bad. In my view, they are more of a glamping thing. We want to be boon docking, BLM, beach, off road. Remember, I can also disconnect and be back to normal 300+ range and every campsite is a gas station. It's not for everyone and I don't care. Loved my F450 crew cab king ranger on 41" super singles.

Yes, pop up keep things low for off road while reducing wind drag on the highway. The batteries in the camper, have about 40 to 70 miles stored in them without any solar.

You typically don’t get gasoline but free air CO2 capture technology has been used successfully to create various fuel sources out of the extracted carbon.

What I really really don’t understand is why EVs don’t have a solar panel roof. If it’s 1.6x1.6m =2.56 m, current technology will yield on sunny days in Sunbelt latitudes ~ 2.4kwh/day. My daughter’s ID.4 has an 80kwh battery pack, so 3% of that is what, maybe 7.5 miles/day?
Most people with EVs use them for commuting and local use, and drive only 5-10 miles many days.
And how much does charging cost at free-standing chargers per kwh?

I have a neighbor down the hill with two Teslas. They sit in the garage from October to April (North Idaho winters)

His daily driver is a mid 90's 460ci F250

I think this ignores the cost of towing the trailer and batteries and all the extra weight. How far can you really travel with the whole rig on a day worth of charging?
What happens if you go far out to camp expecting some solar charge to make it home and it rains or is overcast for the weekend?
