I also swapped from super singles back to duals.
I had Hutchinson rims with 285/70/19.5. Similar issues. Constant cupping of the front tires. Alignment issues. Never balanced properly.
Ruined a sidewall on one and after the insane pain in the ass to get a spare shipped, fixing it beside a southern tire mart because no one wants to touch a split rim, Hutchinson company being totally unhelpful and military gold prices..... Etc etc etc.
The 5500 is 10X better with the duals back on it.

I have 4.89 gearing so I’m spinning 2k rpm at 65mph with the duallies back on
At some point, I’d like to get a larger diameter dually tire to get the Rpm’s down to around 1800, but I’m in zero rush.
I’ve had this over 5 years now, and still under 20k miles, soooo 😂
I’m putting all the rocks that get stuck in between the rear tires on a pallet and once it’s full, I’m gonna send it to @mk216v

LOLers, thx for the feedback and pics guys. Will advise how the MPT81s do for me on my cross country drive west.
I’ve thought about immediately moving from 3pc Hutchinson forged aluminum beadlock to 1pc Wehring or Buckstop forged aluminum so they might be easier to have serviced when needed (also less unsprung weight, less wider track—good for bearings but not as good for stability when splitting hairs, less possibility of air leaks), but the $6000 cost can’t yet be justified.

Do you have over 8k lbs on the rear axle? I know most people with a 5500 would, but yours seemed on the light side.
