Welded Diff for extra traction

Alright, after reading a ton of threads on welding up gears for extra traction, i went ahead and welded mine up.

I put the third back in and went to pull out of my garage, and I just roasted my clutch. I figured that maybe there was some slag left in the bearing, so i dropped it in 4lo and lo and behold something broke loose.
MY ENTIRE DRIVE LINE.

This really sucks. I welded my junk really well. And now my driveline is twisted up like a darn pretzel.

Welding the diff is not welding the ring and pinon gears... its welding the spider gears. Since the ring and pinion gears are welded there is no way for the power to go from your drive shaft to the axle.

I'm not certain if this was meant to be a joke or not based upon similar posts on other forums.

I have thoroughly reviewed you situation and have, without a doubt, determined what the issue is. You need to work on your welding skills.

next time use J-B weld. Works much better and you don't have to remove the gears from the housing.:smiley_drive:
