Surfing up California's central coast

Anyone have any tips? I'm planning an indeterminate-length trip next week, starting from Malibu and heading North. I'd appreciate any tips on traveling with 3 longboards, places that are not to be missed, places to avoid, etc. Thanks!

It's a longboarders heaven, but then you know that if you're in Malibu.
Friend of mine went out there off the Point. That the shorties were paddling in should have been a warning. Darned near got barnacled by the pier. One wave ride from the Point to the pier. It was epic that day.....

I don't know any of the names or what the "climate" might be like, but all of those cars parked on the south side of 101 north of Goleta aren't sun bathing.

Thanks for the input guys. I never make it North of County Line, so I'm definitely going to be keeping my head down and mouth shut...

Ummm... Those are just some workers trying to clean up the big toxic waste spill...
yeah that's it... or the scientists working on that giant man-eating piranha experiment...
Pretty sure it's also the parking lot for the Cannibal's Anonymous retreat center...

DEFINITELY no surf in that area.

Hum, I'd always figured it was surfing. I guess I need to grab my binocs and go see if it's nude sunbathing then?

Hahaha. I'm allergic to toxic/man-eating piranha and cannibalism is against my religion. But I might be tempted if there were some good waves in the area...too bad these reliable authorities say there isn't...

Take a thick suit, the water is freezing, and a shorter board in case it gets heavy. The Morrow Bay, Los Osos area has some sweet surf spots, I won't give them away or the locals might hunt me down but if you poke around you will find them. I pretty sure the Kayaking is good in the inlets around that area too.

How far North are you going? I used to surf Pacifica quite a bit in high school and college but it was with a short board. Just watch out for the nasty undertow which lines up directly with the restrooms in the parking lot...:snorkel:

I'm also allergic to undertow. Unfortunately, our turn-around spot is going to be Pismo, as the wife has decreed I need to be home in time to properly celebrate Saint Patrick's day.
