SPOT today announced it is sponsoring Robby Gordon Motorsports at this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Race at Bristol Motor Speedway – “the king of NASCAR short tracks” from March 20-22, 2009.

For the limited time of March 19 – March 27, 2009, SPOT will be offering a FREE SPOT with the purchase of basic service and tracking ($149.98 annual service subscription required. Additional services optional). The offer is only available by clicking here or going to findmespot.com/robby and is available for U.S. residents only.

SPOT is the primary sponsor of Robby Gordon’s No. 7 Toyota Camry, which will be branded in SPOT’s familiar black and orange colors for the Food City 500’s racing action at Bristol Motor Speedway. Follow the action on FOX this Sunday March 22 at 1:30 pm Eastern. To find out more and read the official press release, click here. Cool, i'll pass this on to friends.

By the way, Robby Gordon and CAMRY just doesn't sound right. It's kind of like putting ketchup on a nice prime rib. Just wrong.

For us idiots, what is the cost savings? I didn't see how much to purchase the actual device on their site.

thanks.

f I remember correctly the regular price just for the SPOT is 99.00 to 169.00 and that is without the service.
anyone know if SPOT is coming out with a new updated unit soon?

You are getting the unit for free and I think it retails for $150.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are clearing out for a new model....but at the same time, maybe not, they make a ton of money off of subscription services. Sometime in the future they will probably just give all the units away with a subscription.
